Come 28th March, 2015, A future beckons on us!!!

"For which one of you, when he wants to build a tower, does not first sit down and calculate the cost to see if he has enough to complete it? 29"Otherwise, when he has laid a foundation and is not able to finish, all who observe it begin to ridicule him,… Luke 14:28-29

Sitting is a comfortable position that enables one relax and be more efficient in thought.
We are admonished to "first sit down" and "plan" so that we increase our chances of success in our ventures.
A crucial day is at hand that will to a large extent, chart the future of this country.
Many people, by this time, have "decided" whom they are voting for.

But, did you "first sit down" and "check/calculate"? Or did you make up your mind based on hearsay, ethnic inclination, sentiments, religion, etc. Did you decide based on what you heard about Mr. A or Mr. B? Did you make up your mind based on what Mr. A has said about Mr. B?

If what was being decided on 28th March was your career, would you have made your decision the way you made yours for 28th March? But, 4 years is not a joke! And this is not just about 4 years of your life alone but also 4 years of over 160 million others!!
Could you not do some little "sitting down" and "checking"? If for nothing else, for the sake of the thousands of innocent, unborn children that will be born within these four years, if Jesus tarries, who do not have a voice of their own now? For the sake of almost 100 million teenagers and children who are not eligible to vote on 28th March, but who will be affected by its outcome as much as yourself?

Don't "sit down" to read speeches, especially speeches from Nigerian politicians whose past we all know, who we all know will only make speeches that are selfishly crafted to portray themselves as angels and their opponents as demons, their interests as excellent and their opponents' as detestable. Their speeches are laced with obvious lies that your "sitting down" and "checking" will point out.
My friends, please do not be carried away by emotional speeches.
Speeches have been emotional for centuries.
Speeches have resulted in both desirable outcomes and undesirable ones in the past. Most world leaders make great speeches. Martin Luther King was a great speaker. Adolf Hitler was also a great speaker!

I have tried as much as possible to ensure this write-up is non-partisan. At the same time, I have also tried to bring to our consciousness, the seriousness of the election that we may be taking for granted. To jolt us to some objective thought about our past, present and future. To make us invest some energy and time in the decisions we make so that we will feel responsible for the outcomes of our decisions in 4 years time.

We need to look at the big picture-The responsibility on our shoulders on 28th March is a great one. And the man who has been given a trust, must prove faithful. The trust is on us, the responsibility is on our shoulders to choose who will lead this country, lead our various states and make laws for us till 2019.

Please, "Sit down", "check" and evaluate your choices to ensure they are the right choices. Choices your underage children and unborn children will be proud of.
