when we went to the village for the xmas break
It was our second time spending Christmas with her, my father and my whole fathers family

we didnt try to be friendly

but the second time
I and my sister used to gist with her all the time
we used to gossip abt life and school etc

told my mum, how I and my sister really got along with our step mother

and they were really impressed, that shows there wont be any family tension in the future

Eeya I can understand Mum's pain. Just explain to her your reasons for acting that way and tell her no one will take her love from ur you and your siblings. I can understand how she felt. Her husband leaving her for another woman and her children,the ones she has as her only hope showing preference for the other woman that's aside the tendency of the other woman to witch hunt them which is typical of the Africa setting. I kind of get your mum. She probably feels like you and your sister are showing preference for a woman who took away her happiness. You guys are very forgiving.

Hmm.. though it's not my cross to bear, personally, I can never have anything to do with such a person. If I had a step-mother, I would make sure she knows what hell feels like before she gets there.

Besides, your mum probably knows your step-mother more than you do. She might not have scolded you guys because she was 'jealous'.

To be honest i dont think your parent's break up must be blamed on your step-mother, at the end of the day its your father who made the choice to leave one woman for the other.

If you feel that being indifferent to your stepmother just to safeguard your mother's feelings is the best solution, then so be it. But don't ever mistreat your step mum simply because you want to please your mother because it could cost your relationship with your father as well.
