@All you car sale posters; viperman, inspired man, carshopper, do you pay taxes on the cars you sell on nairaland? Section 13 Of the Companies and Income tax act states that any profits of a Nigeria Company shall be deemed to accrue in Nigeria wherever they have arisen and whether or not they have been brought into Nigeria. --- if that company has a fixed base in Nigeria , if it does not have a fixed base in Nigeria but habitually operates a trade or business through a person in Nigeria (NAIRALAND.COM) Section 9 (d) any source of annual profits or gains, (e) Any amount deemed to be income or profit under a provision of this act. The only exceptions are charity organizations, co-operative societies registered under any enactment or law relating to co-operative societies. See Section 23. In summary, All those who have been selling and making profits via Nairaland.com ought to pay taxes on their profits to the various inland revenue authorities. If for example, the law enforcement agencies come after some one like Inspired, he would be expected to pay taxes on all profits he had made on sales realized via Nairaland. Secondly, Section 92 states the penalties for tax ovation, and it includes N40 for everyday of default. igwe1, take note. The Nairalander who works with the tax authority, and who gave me this research, take note also. |

^^^ Stuart, not doubting you in any way. I just found it funny - the average Nigerian thinks the word "Tax" is an alien concept, a dirty word. I do agree with you though. |
