The Thomson Reuters Foundation is looking for skilled investigative or financial/business journalists based anywhere in Africa to take part in a long-term scheme that will develop their ability to report on illicit finance and tax abuse. Deadline: 0900 GMT, 5th April 2015 Benefits of the scheme If selected, you will take part in two intensive workshops (3-5 days each) covering illicit finance, reporting on companies, accounts and budgets, and investigative techniques You will propose one or more story ideas that you wish to work on within the scheme – we will provide experienced investigative journalists to help you pursue your stories right up to publication/broadcast You will have exclusive access to expertise with regular webinars featuring illicit finance experts You will also have access to story ideas and editorial advice, and will be invited to share your own expertise with participants from other regions Journalists who take part must commit to all elements of the programme. Participants will sign an agreement to this effect. Workshops in 2015 are provisionally scheduled for June and September and will take place in a variety of locations including Uganda, South Africa, Senegal and Tunisia. Who? Journalists with at least two years of professional experience Journalists with experience of investigative journalism and/or reporting on companies/finances Journalists with a proven motivation to spend significant time reporting on illicit finance and tax abuse Both freelancers and staff journalists may apply. Journalists working for a news organisation will need consent from their editor to take part. Freelancers should provide evidence that one or more media organisations will be willing to take their work.
