komekn:Which kind person be this now? So we should return the tanks and get T72s? Most important right now is we have a 'tank' which probably also is more capable than T72s albeit in limited numbers. Go Read bellingcat and Oryx blog to see how many hundreds of Syrian tanks and armour got knocked out before their tactics evolved. Tanks are force multipliers and not silver bullets. |

AskiaHarem: You are calling him a coon? Very nice. I'm sure you know coon is short for racoon and refers to the fact that back in the days the white man hunted slaves with dogs just as if they were racoons and animals. Just imagine hunting a human being like he/she is an animal. Those slaves caught were usually killed, maimed, mutilated, raped and more. So, when a whitey says he's coon hunting, back then it might mean he's going hunting for nigga meat. Now, are you a white man? If so you are a racist pig cornbread-chomping mofvka with sand in the brain. We are all adults here, so if someone makes an argument you don't like, the thing to do is to repute it point by point. Hauling racist insults doesn't cut it. 9 Likes 1 Share |

The fact is that our soldiers aren't the ones to be blamed for the prolonged nature of this war. The people who are responsible for this mess is the men in charge of our security and intelligence infrastructure. The president National security adviser The minister of defense Our intelligence agencies The army and air force leadership This war can be won fairly quickly (1yr) using the right tactics and weapons. We need better long endurance aerial reconnaissance and striking hardware that can be in the air 24/7 being on the lookout, ready to strike at moments notice. Dozens of armed drones to patrol our borders. Even more to watch sambisa forest and the lake chad region. Its not every time we need to send our boys to put their lives in danger on the ground. With the right aerial strategy and weapons, we can make BH afraid to move in the open. these tucanos don't look like they'll be able to take heavy fire.we need heavy duty stuff Su25s Ac130s if possible More mi35 helos There is no battlefield command, control and coordination system. Especially BTW the army and air force. Do we have laser designators and other targeting equipment we can use to relay targets to our aerial platforms? Our guys need better weapons and vehicles with heavy armor. These Toyota pickups we use is rubbish. None of our ifvs should be lightly armored. What happend to tanks? There are many good Tanks that aren't expensive na. The boys need upgraded armor. What about sniper teams? Night vision goggles and thermal imaging devices? Those will make it easy for us to strike at night thereby giving us the element of surprise. How I wish I was head of procurement for NA our intelligence agencies are the greatest failure and embarrassments of this war. Identifying the logistic and organizational structure of BH/iswap should be the job of the DSS nia and dmi rather than intimidating innocent citizens and making a joke of themselves. The saying "drain the pond to kill the fish" comes to play here. We must also have an emphasis on degrading the organizational and logistics structure of BH. If we can identify how they get fuel and tools for their vehicles, how the get funding, movement patterns then we can get ahead of this thing. Intelligence gathering is the biggest key to this fight. The sooner we do these the better. Enough of reactive strategy, its time for us to be proactive. 7 Likes 1 Share |

If some people actually understood COIN warfare then they wouldn't be saying Nigeria should've gotten more T-72s................. Firstly because its COIN warfare, you aint going to drive columns of Tanks in to the battle field!! thus what's the point in buying 100 T-72, when you are only going to have a handful in the battle field in the first place? Secondly what's the most common anti tank weapon used by rebels/insurgence? its the RPG, Now I don't know if any of you have seen what an RPG-7 can do to a T-72? it cooks it, that's what it does. The VT4 on the other hand would shrug of an RPG-7 hit as if its nothing, the only thing that can destroy a VT4 is modern ATGMs and modern RPG-28s which aren't freely available to Insurgence like BH. Coupled with the SH-5 105mm(C130 transportable) and ST1 AFV this has been so far one of the smartest Nigerian defence force acquisitions to date!! 16 Likes 1 Share |

phazotron: I agree I'd rather see some SUs or Migs but the tucanos are just so much more cost efficient for dealing with these types of insurgencies. At least the Airforce is getting the J-17s. 2 Likes |

phazotron: Not bad but I'd rather see a squadron or two of Su30s. At least the Airforce is getting J-17s. America will NEVER EVER sell Nigeria a single AC130 or any type of sophisticated heavy weapons systems no matter what! When will you guys ever accept this? 1 Like |

AskiaHarem: Someone said 15 for $600m. Very cost ineffective bro. I Don't think that's true sha. And from the screenshot, it isn't what we need. We are not fighting in a low cost environment. we need heavily built, full cas attack aircraft that have endurance capabilities and can pummel BH 3 hours nonstop. These tucanos isn't just it. We could have gotten more su25s, mi35, ka25s, a ton of attack drones and the Russian equivalent of the ac130 and b52 bomber. I think the air force leadership needs some real punishment/sanctioning. They're pretty much the reason why our bases fall to BH and our boys have to retreat from time to time. In the general Adeniyi video, man complained they came under at least 100 RPGs fired from BH. They were flanked on all sides. So many stories of no air support during a 2-3hr gunfight whereas in the us army it would have been the opposite. Na air force bombers go dey do d work while marines go dey flex. 2 Likes

phazotron: Nigeria bought 12 Super Tucanos for $329 million. That individual claiming 600 million is telling lies. We are also getting JF-17 thunders, we are also getting MI-35m helicopters. For the MI-35m once we pay the balance the remaining 8 units would be delivered. The Tucanos can carry all the ground attack bombs and munitions in the US Air Force service apart from MOAB and Nuclear weapons. The Tucanos can loiter and provide reconnaissance for 10 hours to ground troops, imagine that capability. The Tucano is perfect for Nigeria considering we are not in a threat environment like Syria were the enemy has MANPADs. We cannot buy the TU-160 it's not going to happen. We cannot buy the AC-130, that's not going to happen either. What the Nigerian army needs in addition to more of the VT-4 Tank is a dedicated Air Arm, armed with Light Attack Helicopters. 2 Likes |
