Litmus:Most countries under American assistance are better off. Yes the East will try to ridicule you that you're not "free". But economically you'd be better than them. Funny thing about this news is that AFRICOM has actually been looking for a new location for sometime now. They were looking for an African location to accept so they can move out of Germany. This could potentially result in about 10,000 troops being stationed in Nigeria. |

Faithful007:Does foreign aids equate to military assistance? US policy in Nigeria are being formulated by the military guys in pentagon, oil used to be our bargaining chip but with the discovery of Shale gas in the US we're seeing a change in the dynamics of things, shell is already pulling out of Nigeria gradually. The US don't care if Nigeria collapses forget about the humanitarian aids they give us, what they're more interested in is the protection of their interest in Nigeria against Islamic terrorists and as it stands Bokoharam or ISWAP don't have access to the oil rich region of Nigeria, so the US will be largely indifferent to what is going on in other parts of the country. The US gives same financial aid to South Korea & Israel yet we all know the level of military cooperation they have with those countries, infact yesterday the Israeli took delivery of F-35s from the US, in Japan they have similar pact with the US. As for the Chinese they've gone into serious collabos with Pakistan in development of aviation sector and missiles program, Paks JF 17s are more or less Chinese copies of the F16s. When I say a military collabo with China will do us good putting into cognizance the level of "shakara" the US have towards us, I don't mean they should send boots on ground, we can do that, what we need is a serious military infrastructures/equipments/weapons and manpower training. 3 Likes |

Litmus: It is going to be a long misunderstanding if US forces are invited for help. You remember US stop sharing intelligence with Nigeria on terrorism because once they give us the Intel, boom! The Intel land in the hand of terrorists. How do you think they will manage this aspect? Won't there be loggerhead at some point when there effort is being sabotage from within? Remember the military contractors complain the same. 2 Likes |

Litmus:This my opinion First of all, both Nigeria and Biafra are and will be insignificant in World politics and power balance. Secondly, considering economic reasons, They would support Nigeria to be one because of the gas reserves, though I don't see the US directly involved in such a war. It may just look like their Syrian involvement, keeping the war at a stalemate. I can't think of any other interests. Thirdly, such a war would be fought on multiple fronts. So it would be costly to get involved. But expect them to bomb anything trying to take over the gas facilities. Nigerians fail to understand that modern wars do not end once it starts. Yemen and Syria are still fighting. they'll keep on fighting till the end of the world. Update: Let me add that China is building a pipeline through Nigeria, In fact, long story short, Nigeria cannot separate (at least, very very unlikely). We can only fight a war without an end. |

Whyem15: 1) NCOs have lost interest in this war. They believe it is being run by their Oga’s and Federal Government as financial conduit pipes. 2) I can see several Soldiers having small kg of gas for their personal cooking. Is the Military Budget also for feeding of staff or not. 3) We have poor communication equipment. In 2018 ISWAP used this same Mainok pattern to run over several bases in the Northeast. 4) what is the salary of a General in the Army to own Buildings worth over a Billion Naira as personal asset. In most soldiers words “ Baba na to do my own leave here oh, this war no Dey end” During attacks Most NCOs flee from the trench at the first gunshot from BH. I remember when I visited an NCO friend at a military hospital in Maiduguri. He said they were engaging Bokoharam with their Guntruck before he could say Jack Robinson his Gunner jumped and ran away before he could position to take over the AA he was hit by a bullet. The Military Generals, Defence ministry etc are enjoying the Financial benefit from this war. It’s just a pity NCOs and mid range Officers are paying the supreme price. What’s the price of a small little Chinese drone that military can procure to ensure every-outpost tango in the community has one? Even photographers are now using two Chinese drones. I have not seen Cameroonians here using Toyota guntrucks. Most of their personnel use APCs as standard. Like a Major friend here will always tell me “Baba if e set make e no be you go be casualty’’ 4 Likes |

Seriously this is getting out of hand. The NA is just giving up weapons I think other armed forces in the region dream about. How can you have such a defense budget and such arsenal but yet keep having your ass whooped up by guys with sandals and AK47. NA has become a mall center for those guys.look at MRAPs just delivered this month is already in BH or ISWAPs hand. Those same equipments would be turned and used against neighboring nations. It's really a pity when I see what the NA has become. 7 Likes

SamuelAnyawu: In summary, the situation is the way it is because they want it to be the way it is. And that NCOs will continue to abandon positions and weapons as they no longer have trust in officers. I have a few observations, many high ranking officers in the army today have been deployed on combat duties in the North east before, now that they have the opportunity to change things, what is stopping them? As for the camp gas for cooking, I learnt the military started paying feeding allowance directly to troops in the Frontline after several allegations of officers embezzling the money meant for troops to feed. It almost resulted into mutiny then. I can't independently verify the story Sha. 5 Likes |

PROTEST AGAINST INDISCRIMINATE AND INSENSITIVE SHARING OF GRAPHIC PICTURES OF KILL-IN-ACTION SOLDIERS ON SOCIAL MEDIA The Nigerian Army condemns in the strongest term possible, the indiscriminate sharing on social media of graphic pictures of personnel who paid the supreme price in the cause of defending and protecting the country from its adversaries. This act is not only unpatriotic but very insensitive and utterly reprehensible. Officers and soldiers of the Nigerian Army deployed to various theatres of internal security operations are on legitimate duties and are in the harm’s way to defend and protect the country from those who are intent on destroying it. In the course of carrying out this constitutional mandate, troops put their lives on the line to ensure that innocent citizens and institutions of the state are protected from violent criminals. In some cases, these gallant officers and soldiers are meted with the worst form of savagery by the heartless adversaries whose intent is to instill fear on of the citizenry. While the Nigerian Army and its personnel understand the nature of the noble calling and are ever ready to confront any danger of adversity on the way, what is most unfathomable is the glee with which some people share the gory pictures of officers and soldiers who are either killed-in-action or Wounded-in-action in the media. These unpatriotic acts are often done without any modicum of consideration for the memories of the departed personnel or their family members. In some cases, their loved ones do find out about their unfortunate death in such callous manner before they are even contacted by the military authorities. One can only imagine the trauma and pain such families go through waking up to see the gory pictures of their loved ones splashed on the social media. The Nigerian Army consider this despicable and unpatriotic act totally unacceptable and will henceforth take legal actions to protect troops who die in action from being ridiculed on social media or any platform. NIGERIAN NAVY’S NEWEST OFFSHORE SURVEY VESSEL, NNS LANA MAKES PORT CALL AT LAS PALMAS, SPAIN Nigerian Navy’s newest Offshore Survey Vessel, NNS LANA today, this morning, arrived Las Palmas, Spain as it continues its homeward voyage to Nigeria. The ship was received by a Nigerian Navy delegation headed by Rear Admiral Monday Unurhiere and officials of the Nigerian Embassy in Spain. The vessel is expected to stay in Spain for 3 days, before departing for Banjul, Gambia on 30 April 2021. It could be recalled that the Nigerian Navy recently took delivery of NNS LANA in Saint Nazaire, France. Being the Nigerian Navy’s first ever purpose built Offshore Survey Vessel, the new vessel was conceived as a replacement to the previous NNS LANA, a survey ship that was decommissioned about 10 years ago. Notably, the construction of the Offshore Survey Vessel 190 MKII (NNS LANA) commenced in December 2019 and the building process was successfully completed and the ship was launched on 24 September 2020 at Les Sables d’Olonne, France. NNS LANA (A499) is designed and purposely built to enable the NN conduct hydrographic and oceanographic surveys. It is also capable of conducting geophysical studies, search and rescue operations as well as patrol duties. The Ship is equipped with state-of-the-art modern survey equipment as well as a well-equipped 7.6m surface vehicle for shallow water surveys. Furthermore, the Ship has an Automatic Weather Station (AWS), wet and dry laboratories, scientific and technical workshops as well as operating and processing rooms for survey data. The machineries include 2 x MTU engines, 3 x CAT main generators/one emergency generator, electric propulsion system and other auxiliaries. The electric propulsion which is operated at survey speed is particularly installed to minimize distortion of data due to machinery noise. The Ship has a maximum speed of 14 knots and a capacity of 50 crew. NNS LANA was handed over to the Nigerian Navy in France on 15 January 2021 after the provisional acceptance trials was concluded. The crew training commenced in January 2021 and ended on 12 April 2021. The change of flag ceremony marks her readiness to embark on her maiden homebound voyage to Nigeria. Expectedly, NNS LANA would join the Nigerian Navy Fleet in May 2021. It is envisaged that the rebirth of NNS LANA would afford the Nigerian Navy Hydrographic Department the leverage to successfully and systematically conduct hydrographic surveys and charting of Nigeria’s waters. It would also afford Nigeria with the opportunity of keying into the General Bathymetric Charts of the Oceans (GEBCO) Seabed 2030 project and the Global Multi-Resolution Topography (GMRT) synthesis project which would ultimately facilitate Nigeria’s accomplishment of its obligation under SOLAS Convention in accordance with President Muhammadu Buhari’s deliberate and sustained policies on maritime safety and security. 1 Like |

bidexiii:# My brother, I think the soldiers on the ground are getting this all wrong. How come a base which has tanks, MRAPs with high caliber guns be overrun by men using gun trucks and ak47? Seriously it's not the airforce that would give you the courage to face those guys. When you look at the pictures, most of the time, the soldiers are caught off guard. There is no situational awareness of their surrounding, they are not even on alert knowing they are in enemy territory and most at times bases resemble a boy scout camp with no proper positioning of equipment in case of an attack. Most of the soldiers just run away when they are attacked and leave everything behind. We should remember that we are an African army, we should go back to the fundamentals of not always depending on air cover. NA isn't the US army or the French army where they can call on-air cover all the time. the resource is limited and needs to be used diligently. The high tempo of operation on aircraft cause ware down and remember every 1h a plane flies, it requires 5 to 6 hours of ground maintenance. There is also fatigue on the pilots and I don't think the NAF has that many planes and pilots it can rotate to maintain high sortie rates. Look at my country Cameroon, our soldiers fight without air cover. I don't remember the last time our Alpha Jets were used to bombard or for air cover during military operations. But the soldiers stand their ground, just the last 2 months Cameroonian armed forces have repelled several coordinated attacks of BH or ISWAP without the need for air cover. Same for the Niger Republic and the Chadians. There is a need to change strategy and adapt. BH or ISWAP has adapted to aerial bombardment and is employing new tactics. The NA top brass seems not to learn from past defeats or even try to develop and implement new tactics learned from these huge losses. Buying new weapons or jets won't serve anything if the tactics or strategy behind isn't efficient. Those new requirements would end up destroyed or captured as we can see. Resources are supposed to be channeled where needed cause I don't they are. Last time I was reading here on how the Nigerian Navy needs new frigates with anti-ship missiles and others. My question is it essential, why spend such when if there is no need. The Nigerian Defence Ministry needs to know its priorities. 16 Likes |

Our country is being sold right in front of our eyes. When Buhari allowed U.S to operate inside Nigeria, I raised alarm but the usual people said everything was under control and nothing was wrong. We are about to become Iraq and Afghanistan, having a perpetual presence and source of destabilization inside the country in the name of security. Instead of advisors, pmc's and asking for weapons donation we are asking for them to come inside the country (I know he didn't say it but we all know that's what he meant). We a tethering on the edge of being labeled a failed state, and a country were world powers will used our people to test their weapons. 2 Likes 1 Share |

When it took the oldie with an analogue brain 6 months to select a cabinet, I knew he had nothing to offer. There's currently a leadership vacuum in this country and its glaring. The former General sits pretty while the nation burns?! No empathy, nothing!! Even to address the nation is a luxury right now. Well. In regards to food, how about using MREs? Very easy to lose morale and will to fight when you haven't eaten! Not like there isn't other dynamics involved too.
