RETOOLING THE NIGERIAN NAVY FOR GREATER EFFICIENCY!

Do you know that Nigeria had Africa's most formidable warship, which was appropriately named NNS Aradu (Aradu is the Hausa word for thunder), but was left stagnant and inoperable for several years due to what naval authorities at that time described as lack of funding, uptill 2017 when the navy estimated that they will require about $250m to refit the warship for maritime operations. The present administration obliged that request and got the ship fixed and operational by the end of 2020, although in a new role as a combat training ship for Nigeria's new General-Purpose frigate acquired at the cost of $350m, which will soon arrive the country.

The NN it's on is way to glory !

Seems that thousands of Ethiopian troops have now been captured by rebels in Tigray. Man, this is just something else.

It might take like 3-5-6 years before this comes to life but there is a ongoing blue print for it.

DubaiLandLord:
Gunmen suspected to be bandits have invaded the military barracks of the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji, Kaduna State, and carted away a herd of cattle in the early hours of Thursday.

The incident happened around 2:00 am as the gunmen arrived at the barracks and started shooting sporadically in the air to cause panic in the Army community.

Though the exact number of the cattle stolen could not be determined, an eyewitness told SaharaReporters on Thursday evening that the cows would not be less than a hundred in number based on previous experience.

According to the source who spoke on condition of anonymity for security reasons, the cattle were owned by Army officers.

He, therefore, expressed shock that the barracks could be so porous for bandits to attack without any form of resistance.

The source told SaharaReporters the first time it happened was last year and that about 400 cows were taken away by the bandits in what he described as a bloodless attack on the barracks.

He, however, said some of the animals found their way back to their ranch.

The Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji in Kaduna State is a training facility for the Nigerian Armed Forces, including the army, air force, and navy.

“Around 2:00 am on Thursday, gunmen invaded where cattle are kept at Jaji barracks in Kaduna here. Those cattle are owned by some military officers. So, they are kept at the Mammy market, inside the barracks at Jaji here. I cannot tell you the number of cows taken by these bandits but before the operation, they were shooting sporadically in the air.

“Even the people outside the barracks heard the gunshots. And this was not the first time. The first time it happened was last year. That one happened close to the Firing Range. They went there and took away all the cattle. About 400 cows were taken away. Some of them (cows) managed to come back to their ranch,” the source said.

When asked if the bandits came with a truck or any vehicle to convey the cattle, the eyewitness said they did not drive any truck.

He said they took the cattle away on foot.

The source expressed concern that the barracks always accommodate Army officers from other African and Asian countries who take some courses at the college, adding that it would be an embarrassment should a foreigner be abducted on Nigerian soil.

He also lamented that both the military personnel and civilians living in the barracks and the areas surrounding the military base are no longer safe.

He said there have been several attacks launched by bandits on the communities.

“They didn’t come with any vehicle. They would just come on foot and push the cattle away. This is telling us that one day, even, the Army officers in the barracks can be kidnapped. And the barracks are one of the most strategic barracks in the country.

“In the barracks there, there are houses that even foreign Army officers that are taking courses live in. The Jaji barracks are among the largest in the country and if this kind of thing is happening there, that means we are not safe anymore.

“There was a time even military officers from African and Asian countries came for courses there. Majors and Captains do come there from different countries. Every graduation, you will notice that about 17 African countries participate. It means that even foreign officers can be abducted. And if this happens, it is a slap on the face of the country.

“I don’t know if the military authorities are doing anything to see how they can tackle the issue. What I want you to know is that even the immediate areas surrounding the barracks are being attacked daily, and nothing is done. Outside the cantonment, barely a kilometre away is not safe,” he said.

I doubt it's actually the barracks or maybe the adjoining lands.
I have lived inside Jaji barracks and it's a very big place.

Do you know who ESN are? Nobody is saying Security agents didn’t do their jobs too.

But if the SE locals wanted it to persist and support it over 80% who will stop it? The truth remains Igbos have no king and it’s all man to his Island cool

It common sense to know that if 80% support you then they are accomplish and must be treated as such. Every one is your enemy in that kind of situation thus making it easy for security agencies to easily pick their enemy .
During their run around I put two and two together and was about to gather Intel from video, picture, comment and tweet.
So that question do I know who ESN are is not a question.
Piece two and two together from the video then you will find some identifiable person of interest from there you can kick the whole show to a start
If toh say you're a Nigerian security personnel, you 4 know say all this wey you write is easier said than done in Nigeria.

You are still validating my claim that the are weak and most of their operations are aimed at PRs. They are sacrificing manpower and resources to show that they can still hurt.
It is very possible for them to capture and hold Maiduguri for a few hours but the human and capital cost will be so great that they won't be able to capture any other town several months.
To capture a town as large as maiduguri, it will require thousands of men and for a town that has a ditch around it, the terrorists have very few entery points meaning they will be massed up in few locations ;easy pickings for airforce and in a town with airbase, the aircrafts will have room to expend ammunition, return to base to resupply and fly out again to kill more terrorists. If the terrorists eventually gets victory, it will be worse than a phyrric victory.

Even in the height of the insurgency, when the terrorists controlled more than 10 times the area they control today, they were unable to capture Maiduguri. The number of troops in the city alone is enough to deter any attacks on the city. The only thing they can do is what they've been doing. Hit and run attacks and launching mortars and rockets into the city and ambushing traffics leaving or entering the city.
What if ISWAP already have hundreds of men(fighters and suicide bombers) in maiduguri, living peacefully in maiduguri right now, wetin for the D-Day?

One thing that constantly keeps me incensed is the ability of these guys to move in large numbers with their al-shabab styled uniforms without any Intel on them. Somehow, there are people incapable of doing there jobs in the upper echelon of the army and that has been transferred to the people in the field. The army needs to up it's game on Intel and sitrep. Yeah.
That's why this type of war is a very difficult and defferent type of game. You can't attack or order a strike on them when they're have mingled with the civilian population in the community.
That's why we need those drones, monitor them and keep a close eye on them. Theyll later leave in tranches one after the other to meet at a particular choosen area. Then you can decide on how to prosecute them.
