Power never goes out in the USA unless a serious emergemcy did damage..That only happens every few years, and it only last for a day or few days..
Only Serious rains with high winds and floods that break the power lines can stop power in the USA every year.. And it will be lights out for a day or two, and then return to power for years uninterupted...

People sue the power company for the meat and other foods that spoil on their fridge.. And of course other losses such as electric medical equipment failure and work related machine shutdowns causing loss of income..
