The Issue Of Tribe In This Election And Jimi Agbaje by JimiAgbaje2015: 8:44am On Apr 09, 2015 |
Numerous lies and untruths flying around in the regular and social media concocted by the APC in their usual manner and style have come to the attention of the Jimi Agbaje Campaign Organization. They range from the inane to the insane, some include absolute fiction like Jimi Agbaje intends to promote the Eze Ndigbo to the same status as the Oba of Lagos, that Jimi Agbaje wants to hand over Lagos State to the Igbos and the list of wicked and senseless lies goes on ad nauseum. These tactics of pitting brother against brother and tribe against tribe are not new. In the third republic the vested interests, same people at work here, alleged that Yomi Edu was going to hand over Lagos to the Hausas, that his mother was Hausa, his wife Hausa and his father late Chief SL Edu was a Hausa lover, it worked but within months the architects of the wickedness had all developed buyers regret. Then it was Hausaphobia they whipped up now it is Igbophobia they are trying to whip up not caring how their actions might affect our peace and unity as a Country. These are not lovers of Lagos State but robber barons and desperate people who see their days of feeding fat on our taxes disappearing under a transparent and accountable government anchored by Jimi Agbaje. Jimi Agbaje has never expressed or evinced any of the sentiments or statements falsely attributed to him. The APC in their desperation to do a hatchet job on him hoping it would buoy their sagging fortunes in Lagos fail to realize that Lagosian are not fools and have seen through their hypocrisy. Maybe it is unknown to the APC and their band of liars that Jimi Agbaje is of royal stock so what would it profit him or be his reason for tampering with an institution that he is a part of. In spite of all efforts by the APC to obfuscate issues by resorting to base and primordial sentiments, let it not be forgotten that the race for the position of Governor of Lagos State is between Jimi Agbaje (an undisputed Lagosian) and Ambode (who though his claim to being Lagosian is arguable and suspect) is at least undeniably Yoruba. The contest is therefore between two Yorubas, any other thing is needless diversion. Jimi Agbaje's position like any fair minded person's is; may the best man win in a free and fair contest which guarantees every voter irrespective of his state of origin the right to vote for the candidate of his or her choice. It is unheard of in Lagos and a first to insist that eligible voters cannot exercise their right to choose but must vote as dictated to them by a particular political party or their lovers. Lastly it is not rocket science that in democracy where the choice of candidate is determined by votes, the candidate to emerge to represent different areas would be of the stock in preponderance in the area, Latinos in America, Nigerians in England and America etc. Nigerians have been elected Councillors, Mayors, Members of Parliament, in the United Kingdom and they have left a record of distinguished service both the British and Nigerians have been proud of. We close by praying that we emphasize the good things that join and accentuate us and not the vile that debase that divide us. Thank you for your time. Signed. Jimi you are an Omo ale who has brought disrespect to the Yorubas and we will show you on Saturday . The same people that deceived GEJ are deceiving you kontinu sharing your evil posters but we will never allow you to sell Lagos . Many Yorubas who were neutral before since you are both Yorubas now see you as a sell out. You went around promising all manner if things to them just because of votes then they open their dirty mouths to tell us Lagos is no mans land We will show you the owners of Lagos on Saturday . Instead for you to focus on issues you've decided to listen to tan and play politics of tribal sentiments 21 Likes 1 Share

The dominant rooster in a peep of chickens does not want a younger cock to crow. Àkùko nlá kò fé kí kékeké ko. That defines the hatred of the Afenifere for Tinubu. Tinubu's only offense is taking political leadership of the Yorubas. The leadership was there for the taking after Pa Adesanya's death but they were more interested in the politics of their stomach. Tinubu rose to the occasion and became unstoppable. Then the gnawing envy began. I don't care what anybody says, Tinubu is our leader warts and all. Nígbàtí ikú npa ni k'ílòrìsà nwò? When Obasanjo wanted to override Yoruba land where were they? Tinubu gave us Fashola who redefined governance in our rudderless space. Now we have Ambode, a seasoned civil servant with sterling credentials. I have campaigned for Ambode and did not campaign against Jimi Agbaje until now. His politics has polarized Lagos sharply and I must campaign against him openly. We know nothing about Jimi Agbaje other than him owning a pharmacy and belonging to Afenifere renewal group. Whatever integrity Jimi Agbaje has is contrived and farcical. In the words of a trusted friend "Jimi does not show up". He is a fence sitter. He wants people to think he is with them but he is never there when it counts. He does not show up when it is time to be seen. Jimi does not take a position, he takes positions. Jimi runs with the hares and hunts with the hounds. Jimi is not the kind of leader we want. President Goodluck Jonathan open the Naira/dollar spigot for Jimi to capture Lagos seen as the crown jewel of Yorubaland. Oh well, what Obasanjo couldn't not do, Jonathan can never aspire to. Every Nigerian is entitled to aspire to public office and that is incontestable. The problem with Jimi is that his ambition to be the governor of Lagos state is overarching. It is an at all costs and everything be damned ambition. He initially mulled running under the labor party. Then the PDP recruited him. Where is principle? He claimed to be progressively minded, what changed? We know what changed. It is ambition, naked ambition. Jimi at the sight of money went to town. The elite embraced him because he is one of them. He moved on to slash and burn politics believing nothing is too sacred to be sacrificed for his ambition. Why are we seeing ethnic politics and Yoruba/Igbo divisions at this time? That is Jimi Agbaje kind of politics. We don't tolerate Jimi Agbaje's kind of politics in Yorubaland. By the close of polls on Saturday, he will find out. Ambode's win is a given come Saturday. Even though I am not in Nigeria at this time to conduct a poll, I know we are sufficiently galvanized to give Ambode our mandate. PDP as is presently constituted have no stake in Lagos. Actually they are an aberration in Yorubaland. We will not stop until the lepers of the Southwest - Mimiko and Fayose are routed. The leaders we need in Yorubaland are those who respect our cultures and traditions. Those who want development as laid down by Chief. Obafemi Awolowo and will work for it. These are the kind of leaders we want to represent us at federal level. We want our leaders to be exemplars for Yorubas and all Nigerians. Vote Akinwumi Ambode as governor of Lagos state. Jimi will be fine with the money he has collected from Jonathan. JK is not good for Lagos. JK is not OK 17 Likes 3 Shares

ElekeNtioba: Jimi can't deny it, he has been making stupid promises he can't even keep to the Igbos and sharing these useless fliers in Igbo communities . That's another one and it's his PDP people that went around sharing them. Many Yorubas right now view Jimi as an outcast 11 Likes

The APC in their bid to coerce Lagosians to sympathise with them after 16years of failed leadership decided to launch campaign of calumny against the incoming Governor of Lagos state Mr Jimi Agbaje and the People's Democratic Party. For the record, the candidacy of Mr Agbaje is not an Igbo or non indigen agenda. Agbaje is a proud Yoruba son and will never relegate his kits and kin to promote others. He has been a member of Afenifere and understand Yoruba interests. I urge people of Lagos to troop out in their numbers to elect Mr Agbaje irrespective of tribal, religious and political affiliation. Jaykay is Okay Vote Jimi Vote PDP 5 Likes |

HI barcanista: Failed leadership!! You're a bloody liar. Please what state are you from, let's do a dude by side comparison. You just come here and talk crap. Failed leadership can come out of your mouth?? Really?? You guys are so used to failure you don't even know even though it surrounds you. Then you leave your cities and come complain about a government that's doing more than all of yours combined plus more. Tell me a government that has been more successful than the APC government in the past 16 years. You guys don't care about Lagos, you guys just want to sink your filthy teeth in her resources and you guys don't succeed. You guys I'm sure won't be happy until Lagos is as backwards as your states. Please worry about where you're from first, go and ask your governors what they're doing with your allocation. Even your Agbaje has said times without number that Fashola has done very well and what he needs to do is improve on it and now you want to come here and say he has failed. Fear God barcanista!! You were one of the ones that blasted Agbaje when he said he'll run Lagos like PDP states. I'm guessing PDP states have turned to Dubai since then right?? I really can't stand hypocritical liars. Try to sell your candidate without putting down someone else's hard work. 11 Likes 4 Shares |

mrmetoo1:What makes you think that I'm happy the way my home state has been governed? I won't support nor praise mediocrity no matter how it appears. I agree that Lagos has gained significant improvement since 1999 but when you compare it with the resources at its disposal and the "promises" of the APC government, one will be right to tag it a failure. Good governance goes beyond painting of government buildings and planting flowers. What are the Social packages in Lagos? What about the issue of multiple taxation that clearly discourage businesses and not economic friendly? What about education? What about transparency in governance? What about the growing practice of satisfying the elite and neglecting those in the lower strata? Contrary to what you assume, I want Lagos to succeed just like I want every other part of Nigeria. There is no competition between Rivers and Lagos State because I want the best for both. You can shove your ethnic fight somewhere because it disgust me and I don't engage in such. Lastly, vote Jimi Agbaje For Governor! 3 Likes |
