A Mass Protest Against Law Makers Outrageous Take Home Pay. by cmart09(m): 4:00pm On Apr 09, 2015
It is a known fact
that Nigerian Politicians are the highest paid
politicians in world. Unbelievably, all of the 109
Senators and 360 members of the House of
Representatives earn this enormous salary. It has been a thing of concern to me and many other Nigerians as to how outrageous a single law maker taker home for a month.
The current Senate
President earns #250 million quarterly or N83.33
million per month while the deputy gets #150
million per quarter or #50 million a month. Now the average salary of a Nigerian
public worker according to National Minimum
Wage is #18,000.00 x 12 = #216,000 ($
1,333.00). By proportion, it will take a common
Nigerian public worker 1,638 years to collect the
annual salary of a senator. Isn’t that saddening?
The worst is that a seating president that brings this issue up could be impeached by these law makers.
What am saying is this, we the ordinary nigerians could match In mass to occupy the national assembly until something is done about this, because silence won't get us to where we need to be.
