Nuhu Ribadu’s Governorship Ambition Left In Tatters by justjify(m): 4:18pm On Apr 09, 2015
Less than two days to the gubernatorial and House of Assembly polls, the gubernatorial bid of the Peoples Democratic Party candidate, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, has suffered a major setback as key figures in his party in Adamawa state have moved in droves to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Leading the defectors was the former deputy Senate majority leader, Jonathan Zwingina. Others were a former minister of external affairs, Idi Hong, and two serving Senators, Bello Tukur and Ahmed Barata, as well as Sadiq Haske.

Even though reports stated that former chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ribadu, stepped down his governorship bid temporarily, the Kano state governor and presidential aspirant from the APC, Rabi’u Kwankwaso, has maintained that the PDP has made Ribadu, who was the presidential candidate of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), a laughing stock.
He has given an option by the PDP leadership to withdraw from the bye-election and contest the 2015 gubernatorial poll under the umbrella of the party, but Kwankwaso has insisted that: “PDP has now made Nuhu Ribadu to be a laughing stock among PDP stakeholders in Adamawa state after the party dumped him in its recent gubernatorial primaries.
“After he left the APC for the PDP, his new party did not find him worthy of its gubernatorial ticket. I am sure the PDP stakeholders in Adamawa are now laughing at him. We sympathise with him.”
