Jaguar Land Rover may have taken the auto world by storm with the launching last week of a new version of its high-end Range Rover Autobiography.

Since the unveiling of the 2016 SV Autobiography at the 2015 New York International Motor Show in the United States, auto analysts and enthusiasts have focused on what is generally described as an extraordinary luxury SUV.

For instance, an online auto reviewer, The Daily Mail, says is the most luxurious, exclusive and powerful production Range Rover ever has launched has broken cover in New York.

The new Autobiography is coming with unique exterior design enhancements, an exclusive interior and a 493hp V8 supercharged engine, making it the automaker’s most luxurious and powerful series-production model to date.

Crafted at Land Rover’s Special Vehicle Operations’ technical center in the UK, the SUV is said to have a sophisticated style and high level elegance.

The Managing Director of Jaguar Land Rover Special Operations, John Edwards, says, “Range Rover originally defined the luxury SUV segment and the new SV Autobiography, developed by Special Vehicle Operations, takes Range Rover to another level of comfort, craftsmanship and refinement.”

Engine

The Range Rover SV Autobiography is fitted with a powerful supercharged five-litre V8 engine which develops a staggering 539bhp of pulling-power – equivalent to five Ford Fiestas. This is said to be the sort of power normally found in an Italian supercar – and gives the off-roader a top speed of around 150mph.

Land Rover’s Design Director and Chief Creative Officer, Gerry McGovern, also says, “With the SV Autobiography, we have taken the opportunity to optimise the Range Rover’s luxury execution and precision while delivering beautiful detailing that considerably enhances the customer’s experience of our flagship vehicle.”


Interior

Another online auto reviewer provides the vehicle’s interior details. For instance, it says the image of distinction continues with the foot pedals and driver’s switchgear, including the start-up surround and rotary controls, machined from solid aluminum to form knurled details.

Along with the rear seats, the back section has a chiller compartment, powered deployable tables and metal coat hooks.

Proceeding further back, the car offers the option of a sliding load space floor which is crafted from aluminium with a choice of veneer, and can extend to optimise loading and unloading. Alternatively, the Range Rover’s versatile split tailgate features ‘event seating’, a quick and easily-deployable chair arrangement for two adults.

Exterior

The model has a special front grille that is finished in distinctive graphite atlas and polished chrome. It features the new ‘Range Rover’ bonnet lettering and ‘SV autobiography badging on its tailgate.

Its exterior, for the first time, is available in a duo-tone body colour option, enabling the combination of a santorini black upper body with nine palette choices for the lower part, which helps to create a feeling of individualism.

A spokesman for JLR’s Special Vehicle Operations division says, “For the first time on a Range Rover, customers of the 2016 model year SV Autobiography are able to specify a unique duo-tone body colour option. The combination of Santorini Black upper body and nine colour choices for the lower body create true distinction and individualism.”
