I did my NYSC in her town and I know she will win the moment she came out to contest because her people, Oghara in Delta state and Urhobo entirely love her father so much. He brought so much development to Oghara when he was the governor. 1 Like |

rutemi: So now you are espousing the principle of moral relativity. He didn't steal as much so that means he should be trusted? This is why I think that democracy (or at least universal/unequivocal suffrage) is a disaster in a nation like Nigeria. People who have not been taught to reason are given a say in matters that they do not understand. |

Chrisx1x: You have no moral fiber or understanding of how events in one place effect those in neighboring areas. When good governors appear and are seen to do well that puts pressure on others do likewise - see how Cross River pressurized AKS to step up or how Lagos has put pressure on those in Oyo state to get to work. When you have inept governors doing what has been done before that is when the status quo continues and people will continue crying about how there is no money in the country, everything in Nigeria is bad etc etc. If Ibori used the money for developments that would make his state a beautiful place to live and do business then that would draw more money to the state and everyone there would be in line to benefit - instead he choose to take money meant to create infrastructure and used it to buy property abroad and 'luxury' consumer items, thus expanding the purses of foreign businesses. When you look at it he was doubly stupid - 1) for stealing 2) for enriching a foreign nation. |

peterjero: Politics and nepotism go hand-in-hand because people select who they know and not who is best. It does not mean that the parents have done well in raising the child - George W. Bush is an example of that, he was an embarrassment to his family as a young man and was disastrous as president. |

mmsen:My brother humans aren't perfect, but Bush been an embarrassment to the family and disaster as president he completed his two terms, we that are happy for buhari now, were also happy for GEJ. We will always fail ourselves as humans. We will make d same mistake till....... Mind you, we d masses allow these to happen |

peterjero: The majority have no clue as to what is happening in the corridors of power, hence why they vote for clowns like George Bush and General 'An Attack on Boko Haram is an attack on the North' Buhari. I had no feelings towards Jonathan but when I saw that he was serious about putting in place measures that would benefit Nigeria in the long run that is when I saw that he is one of the best administrators that Nigeria has had as president. The fact that he was up against Buhari as an opponent helped his cause. Sadly, you cannot be all things to all men and whilst someone with a grasp of economics and politics is always necessary there are people who seek a man with a military background believing that will resolve the Boko Haram issue, a problem with deep seated and unattended cultural problems. |
Re: Erhiatake Ibori Wins House Of Assembly Seat In Delta State by mmsen: 1:53pm On Apr 13, 2015 |
rutemi: He stole. He took money meant to do long lasting good and used it as gifts. He enriched his people how? By giving them handouts? What happened to ensuring that they had amenities so that they could all grow instead of dolling out money? You have just exemplified why some people should never hold political office, nor should they ever be allowed to vote. They do not even appear to understand what is in the best interests of the society that they live in. There's a need to impose a moral aptitude test for anyone running for elective office and for those that wish to register to vote. No discipline, no moral sense and no understanding of the role of government - pitiful. 1 Like |

mmsen:have you been to delta,it's not the most beautiful place, but during ibori tenure, they was never a time teachers went on strike or you heard they was a political misunderstanding, it was during his tenure that the ijaws and itsekiris could use vehicle down to their villages,so many got employment as teachers name it,yes he stepped on toes but he never ate alone. |
Re: Erhiatake Ibori Wins House Of Assembly Seat In Delta State by mmsen: 2:14pm On Apr 13, 2015 |
rutemi: There are other states where the teachers do not strike but where roads and other amenities are built. He did not achieve anything in doing that. There is no excuse for the state that Asaba is in, none. The amount of money that has been wasted should have turned that place into a town to rival Calabar, instead it is on par with places like Yola for deprivation. Warri should be one of the great cities of Nigeria, rivaling Port Harcourt. What is it today? All that money that Ibori spent for his frivolous reasons could have been better used. You are willfully ignoring all the money that was wasted abroad by Ibori, why? Could he not have used all that money to develop his own home? What kind of personenriches another man's home and leaves his own looking like a used toilet bowl? I don't care if politicians step on the toes of others, they are there to put in place measures and projects that will improve their environs. The problem is that some steal resources meant to improve quality of life in their locale for their own childish desires - what compounds the problem is that there people will defend them because the politician dashed them a few kobo. |

mmsen: I think it will be better if you talk as an expert in things that you know about, you obviously do not know anything about delta state and you do not know about the infrastructural development Ibori brought to Delta state, so do not come online and pretend to know anything about delta state. There is no community in Delta state that can claim that Ibori did not do a project in their community, none. There is no other governor in Nigeria that can claim that title. Ibori stepped on toes and was caged, simple The money the UK are trying to confisticate from Ibori is 5million pounds, certainly 5 million pounds is not the greatest fraud that has happened in Nigeria since 1999, what happened to the others. You know nothing about delta state, Deltans know that Ibori has been the best governor in Delta state since the creation of the state. I suggest you create a thread about corruption in your state and try to remove the rot in your state before picking on delta state. |

ogb5: I know what I have seen in Asaba and Warri, compared to Uyo, Calabar or Port Hartcourt the towns in Delta State are pitiful. You are lying to yourself if you believe that Ibori only stole 5 million pounds - he has been imprisoned for 13 years, he stole a lot more than 5 million pounds. The Brits froze 80 million of his assets and have returned at least 8 million to Nigeria. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2014/11/uk-return-6-8m-ibori-loot-nigeria/ Keep lying to yourself, you sound like the clowns who claim that Babangida was good for Nigeria. http://www.cnn.com/2012/05/09/world/africa/ibori-mpa/index.html |

mmsen: You did not answer the question of what happened to those who stole more than Ibori. Your state governors since 1999 have been stealing your state dry, what has happened to them, can you account for the security votes your governor pockets every month? Like I said you know nothing about delta state, focus on your state and make it better |

Get a life. Who is defending criminals, show me one straight forward politician in Nigeria, is the politician you voted for in the last election straightforward? Hypocrates like you support corrupt politicians and come online to claim holier than thou. |

citizenjuwon: Ibori served Delta much more than ALL the state governors of his generation put together served their respective states. Though coming from an opposite ethnic group to mine he did transformed my region, developed the entire senatorial districts built higher institutions, started airport projects and biggest of all brought an end to the age long tribal wars! If the so called saints that succeeded him or served in his generation did as much as he did we would all have been proud of the Nigeria we have today. |

ogb5: 1. Hypocrites. 2. You don't know from I hail - to assume that I have a state governor is silly. But I have visited Nigeria widely and Delta State should be one of the most prosperous but from the looks of things it is one of the worst in the south. 3. We should condemn all crooked politicians and see that they all face justice so that the next generation will think differently. Fighting immoral activity is a never-ending task. It does not begin or end with one politicians, it is your civic duty to ensure that corrupt officials do not prosper. The age of the military rulers is over, people can and should demand more from their political leaders. If you look at my past posts I ask probing questions about Tinubu often and since El-Rufai has decided to run for office I have been questioning his supporters as well. |

mmsen: By which criteria did you conclude that Delta state is one of the worst in the south, guy get a life. Check the human development index of the different states in Nigeria and repeat the trash you just wrote. If you dont have a state governor, then you are not a Nigerian, in that case concentrate on your country and allow us solve our problems |

You can form expert online on things you know nothing about, but don't expect to get away with it everyday. Today is one of those days where your ignorance gets exposed. Live with it. There is no crime in ignorance, just don't claim expertise in your ignorance, you know nothing about governance in Delta state, don't claim to know, simply come online and learn. |
