PDP Defections To APC Unhealthy For Nigerian Democracy - Attorney Patryk Utulu by PatrykUtulu(m): 8:49pm On Apr 13, 2015 |
PDP'S EPIDEMIC OF DEFECTIONS IS NOT GOOD FOR NIGERIA'S POLITICAL DEVELOPMENT - APC CHAIRMAN, ODIGIE-OYEGUN* --Attorney Patryk Utulu* APC National Chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun has just confirmed what I have said more than once since Nigeria's ruling party-PDP lost the presidential election,on March 28, 2015, to opposition party-APC: that the integrity-deficit, rotten-rat-race, shameless, mindless mass defections by PDP politicians to the politically ascendant APC is not good for Nigeria’s political development. Chief Odigie-Oyegun advised PDP political prostitutes defecting to the winning APC to, instead, form a formidable opposition to enrich Nigeria’s democracy. As usual I received quite a bit of nasty feedbacks when I said repeatedly that it tantamount to irresponsibility bordering on electoral fraud for politicians nominated by one political party to be negotiating defection and/or defecting to another party EVEN before the election for which they received their "primary" mandate was conducted. HAVE THEY NO SHAME? 1. Would Maj-Gen. Muhammadu Buhari be President-elect today if he had sold himself as a political prostitute to then-dominant PDP? 2. Did Nigerians not see how PDP tried (too late, yes, but tried) to clean up their political mess and silly arrogance when APC started catching up to PDP? 3. How could APC know if it is ruling effectively, fairly or incorrectly if PDP politicians' infidelity prematurely turns APC into Nigeria's sole political party? 4. Who would Nigerians turn to if we became a one-party nation? The bankruptcy of patriotism in Nigeria's political class is endlessly horrifying: How could Nigerian politicians who own private airplanes, mansions and have stashed retirement "=N=$" in various banks expect long suffering masses to show loyalty if the politicians themselves are already jumping overboard like rats on a sinking ship? Muhammadu Buhari may turn out to be a useful leader, a great president or a political disaster. We will know soon enough. But whether you like him or not, a majority of Nigerians -- and I am one of them -- DO RESPECT MUHAMMADU BUHARI FOR HIS STEADY PURSUIT OF "ASO VILLA" AND HIS UNWAVERING COMMITMENT IN JOINING/BUILDING POLITICAL OPPOSITIONS TO PDP'S RULE UNTIL HE WON THE ULTIMATE PRIZE ON MARCH 28TH. ***** Attorney Patryk A.
