Injustice In Kogi Politics by obajemj(m): 10:05pm On Apr 18, 2015
Prince Adamu Ibrahim Alih
AN OPEN LETTER OF REDRESS AND SEEKING
FOR JUSTICE.
The INEC National Chairman,
National Headquarter,
Abuja.
Sir,
APPLICATION FOR COMPLAINTS.
Sequel to the rumors spreading in and around
the Eastern part of Kogi State, particularly
Dekina/Bassa Federal Constituency over the
just concluded National Assembly election in
the Federal Constituency.
I want to bring to your notice that the entire
Youths and Members of APC in the said
constituency are demanding and asking you to
use your good offices in finalising the issues
and pending issuance of CERTIFICATE OF
RETURN to Hon. Benjamin Ikani Okolo , the
authentic winner of the just concluded
National Assembly election which was withheld
by the INEC Commissioner in-charge of Kogi
State.
I want to further my complain that, Below was
the result released by Kogi State INEC
Returning Officer, on the 29th March, 2015
for both the Presidential and National
Assembly Elections.
*BASSA LGA*:-- This Local Government has 10
wards with actual Registered voters of 50,743.
Number of the Accredited Voters are: 18,412.
APC - 7,412.
PDP - 9,964.
PPN - 035.
*DEKINA LGA*:-- This Local Govt has 12
Wards with actual Registered Voters
of:-139,522.
Number of Accredited Voters are: 40,271.
APC - 18,189.
PDP - 13,885.
APA - 102.
CPP - 89.
But elections only took place in 11 wards
while that of Oganenigo ward, was cancelled
do to the snatching of ballot boxes and papers
by Hoodlums who attacked the INEC officials
and hijacked, destroyed and wounded the
INEC staff.
It was stated that the electoral Materials
meant for the whole Oganenigu Ward was
seized and some where destroyed by the
hoodllums. In the process, it was also
gathered that one person who is a non INEC
staff was severely wounded to a point of
death.
NOTE:
As the time the results were been collated at
Dekina after receiving all the results except
that of Oganenigu Ward, the following was the
merging between APC and PDP:
APC has 18,189 + 7,412 = 25,601 votes from
the both Dekina and Bassa LGA.
While PDP has 13,885 + 9,964 = 23,849 from
the both Dekina and Bassa LGA.
APC - 25,601 votes.
PDP - 23,849 votes.
DIFFERENCES - 1,752..
In a nutshell, APC Candidate, Hon. Benjamin
Ikani Okolo leads in the House of
Representatives election conducted in Dekina/
Bassa Federal Constituency with a total
merging of 1,752.
We expect the INEC Commissioner in-charge
of Kogi, Nasarawa and Plateau States
respectively to have officially announced and
declared the APC candidate winner of the
election having satisfy with the requirement of
the INEC law and in accordance with the
Constitution of the Federal Republican of
Nigeria.
But today, nearly a week now, the Kogi State
INEC has not deem it fit to officially make an
announcement of the results sent down to her
by the Returning Officer. Instead, we just
heard that the PDP and some power that be
are trying to man over something by creating
a chance or date for a re-run election in some
polling units which was NOT suppose to
happen according to what Prof. Attahiru Jega
said, and I quote: "Any aggrieved person or
party who seems not to be satisfied with what
they have officially done after the election
official date should seek redress at the
Tribunal".
Why is it that the INEC Commissioner Dr.
Abdulkadiri denied or refused to issue to the
APC candidate and winner of the Dekina/Bassa
Federal Constituency House of Reps
CERTIFICATE OF RETURN?
Had it been it was PDP that leads in the
collated results, am sure the announcement
could have been done without further delay.
INEC Commissioner, why Delaying the Justice
of God? But remember that, ""Justice Delayed
Can Never be Denied"".
To further conclude my write up, I want to
also bring to the notice of the general public
that, according to one online post made by
Confluence CableNews that: "the result of the
elections conducted in the area so far put the
All Progressive Congress' Candidate Hon.
Benjamin Ikani Okolo ahead of the Peoples
Democratic Candidate, Hon Paul Idris GOWON
by over 200 votes. The PDP candidate and his
cohort are seriously seeking for a re-run
election for some polling units which they
claimed to be inconclusive to give them the
room and privilege for their usual ways of
manipulation.
The PDP candidate also claimed in his petition
to the INEC that, those are the polling units
he will use to defeat his opponent if re-
runned.
I am appealing to you on behave of our
teaming supporters of APC and followers of
Hon. Benjamin Ikani Okolo the candidate of
APC and winner of the Fed. House of Reps
election for Dekina/Bassa Federal Constituency
to issue him his CERTIFICATE OF RETURN
without further delay.
We are sure that following your
pronouncement on the day you declared Gen.
Muhammadu Buhari the APC Presidential
candidate winner of the election that, "any
aggrieved party or person who seems not be
satisfied with the result submitted by the
returning officer should seek redress at the
Tribunal" our complain shall be heard.
Thank you and God bless.
For the Concern Citizens...
