~~Memories Of The War Through My eyes~~ by SeanT21(f): 8:15am On Jan 31, 2009 |
Those Rebels were cold- blooded creeps, To hell, i pray they 'll be released I remember the war just like night and day Those fools had no passion for the innocent. They layed them on the ground in different ways. It started with gun shootings. We stood there like robots. "Go home, Run!". the teacher screamed That stroke more than thousand bleeps, Rushed up to my brothers home- based. They were singing 'bout rivers and stream with gay. "Hear me, the war has started again.", screamed Brents. "Don't ya hear the gun sound!" That was May's." Baby E, Rich, let's go! Come what may". People shouting and crying while moving out in maze. Ladies ran in their old boots;Boys and Girls ran in their shorts. "They are now here", Jonah screamed. Along the road, no person peeps. All those smiling faces had ceased. Gone peeking through the window in sunny day. Everyone's lured for radio condiments. Head on despair, I was in great amaze. Grandmother said, "smile. "There's no other way".Run, Listen, Smile, Are these really the right ways? Can you run , listen in doubts? What is there to smile? Pout!War started. Life, soul ceased. Life is unfair, ask the mid -air. Why my, others' breathe it scares. Death's almost here, Grandmother dear. Oh God! This wounded heart rehears. Close my eyes. Pray to God up there,NO VISITOR NAMED DEATH APPEARS! . |

Oh,u threw it up and decided to be a colomnist on Nairaland, right? Did all these really happen? Lol then those rebels were brutal. Liberia must have passed thru hell and still did not melt down. its a good write up,waiting for the concluding part before i rate this. cheerz |

That night, but not close to me, death did appear for the people who did not make it on these nightmares. The war’s over. People were lost in mid air. "Where did my son go?”, screamed by an old lady who cares. It’s hard to see smiling faces who share. People walked around with sorrow and grief that word spares. The marketplace was silent. I could not bear! Yet in my mind, I could still hear the sound of guns’ fierce. "Life is not the same anymore, Liberia dear.” “When will you have peace permanently?", asked a friend with tears . No one responded. Nobody seemed to care! "Never ever…", I said under my breath. “I’l give my ears” “to this war that gave Liberia an unworthy scare.” School would be starting again, what will she wears? Should she wear a happy face or wear the one with a fear? My love for everything disappears. Who cares! I wondered if my friends still breathe the air. I wondered so many thoughts until sleep came with sears took me without my consent ‘cause it could hear… sleeping take's me away from these pains, torments and fears. **~~MORE 2 COME~~~** |

SeanT21[b the war within (myfirst set of lyrics) Feelings left behind, memories a pain the future left blind, hopes fade behind the stains. The war within rages in flame, each day a new battle hopes held in, each day the same Weight building fear screaming, hopes fading dreams disappearing, the war within the war will not stop the war is our own the war leaves us feeling alone unable to see unable to hear the unbearable storm within our own war The war within we fight we hope we're not alone We all fight we all have dreams we all feel pain we all feel alone The war within we all are connected we all fight within we all are never alone We will always fight we will always hope we will always feel we are together The war within will never win the war within we will not lose ] the Greatest of all war is the one withinI love you intelligences |

The war ended and school started again. The atmosphere was full of fear and disbelief. Students walked and smiled quietly with grief; Some telling horrible stories about the war Others crying over a lost family or friend. "PEACE, PEACE", I heard a voice from behind. It was my friend, Edwina, so kind; The last time I saw her, we did not say goodbyes. We all ran in different directions hearing the sound of gun. During the war I prayed that she was alive and was not gone. When I saw her, happiness rushed over me like war never happened. "Edwina, its you!” I screamed and giggled; And, together we walked and chatted and mingled. We’re so happy yet couldn’t face the agony. We saw faces full of pain and anger. We shared our stories of danger. Deep down, we knew that we did not have it worst. Our families, friends- alive and healthy! Still we have their smiles so wealthy… We’re BLESSED to have not what Monrovia kids gain. But for our young and restless souls, Dead bodies, gun shots were too much to handle in brief. We arrived in class with old memoirs’ scar. "Peace and Edwina, where you people from?” Siatta’s said. "Walking around the school,” we said together. We sat down and in the class we signed. "I am glad to see everyone here. I am happy that we are all reunited again. The war is over. We need to put the past behind us and move forward. Let’s pray for a better Liberia and pray for the family of those whose life the war toke away", Mr. Sinoe sighs. I always thought of Mr. Sinoe as a real fantastic man. He taught History with insight and passion in all he can. His words, so soft ‘til this day still linger in my mind. "We need to put the past behind us and move forward". What did he mean by that? Trying hard to be coward? How he expects us to erase memories of agony? The memories of war hate and anger. All of these in our heads linger. The war ended but to me it’s like night and day. The memories of war still haunt me… What my innocent ears heard and what my innocent eyes saw, I can still remember. Deep down I want the memories to live with me forever. I’m sorry Mr. Sinoe. I do not intend on throwing these memories away. These are part of me now. These made me who I am today. The war ended but the memories still live on. |

~I can only say i can not only empathize but i understand a fraction of what you put into words on here. . coming from a war-torn country myself,i witnessed nothing like most did but the sound of a fire cracker going off sends shudders thro me every Halloween ,talk less of a loud bang that resembles the sound of gunshots,i always jump out of my skin!! ~I watched a documentary a couple of days ago about LIB "Pray The Devil Back To Hell" not as graphic as "Cry Freedom" which i still havent finished watching. . too emotionally drained from crying! ~It was about a group of women who fought for Peace Talks in Ghana. . I cried bucket loads. . . .praythedevilbacktohell.com/v3/ They are my Heroes!! ~Reading your experience on here have inspired me to wanna share mine, not a place i like to go back to but considering my story is nothing compared to the attrocities suffered by millions,i sometimes feel it's not that worthy of sharing b/c i wasnt really a "Victim" I didnt lose a loved love,my house wasnt looted,i wasnt raped,i wasnt amputated,i didnt see dead bodies lying around,i didnt starve for food/water. . . .I didnt have to beg for my life. . . ~The people who went thro all that & more deserve to have their stories heard, share their experiences. . they are "The Real Victims" of war!! |

I apologize on Charles Taylor behalf because he was one of the main reasons that Sierra Leone was at war. A Sierra Leonian friend of mine told me about the "long hands" and "short hands" phrases.Very Painful what they did to those Innocent souls. Liberia and Sierra Leone are now at peace finally.I hope Mr Taylor will be put behind bars for his wickedness. Thanks for that link. Another good one to watch is called "Johnny Mad Dog". Its about the Liberian Civil War. http://stagevu.com/video/qznujijbgzlh |
Re: ~~Memories Of The War Through My eyes~~ by mohawkchic(f): 12:29am On Sep 28, 2009 |
~No need to apologise. .tis was my own people who committed those crimes on their countrymen afterall regardless of who instigated it! ~Yeah. . .I'm ever so Thankful there's Peace in both countires!! It seemed almost unthinkable that both countries will ever move on from it's troubled past so its a sight for sore eyes to see infrastructures rebuilt & people trying to put the past behind them & look forward to a better future. ~Last i heard Charles Taylor was on trial at The Special Courts in SL which is an independent judicial body set up to "try those who bear greatest responsibility" for War Crimes & Crimes Against Humanity. . didnt follow up on how that progressed. . . . ~Ta. for the link. . will check it out |
