Visa type: SOWP for spouse, SP for 2 kids and TRV for 1 child
Visa approval date/PPR: December 19, 2022
Documents:
Bank Statements (Only student's accounts both in Nigeria and Canada)
Study permit

Invitation letter from student
Landed properties in Nigeria (on student name)
Share certificates (student)

So here is the full gist as promised.

Spouse left for Canada April 2021 for a 2 years PG Diploma.
Weighed my options during that period and figured that visit was quite faster than SOWP so went for visit.
1st Visit visa application was submitted June 6, 2021. Then the long wait started. Explored the Travel Authorisation to expedite the processing but they didn’t see my reason as good enough. Then they new portal thing came up for those that applied before sept 7th. So I applied for the 2nd visit visa using the new portal in October,2021. Refusal for the 2nd application came in November,2021 with 2 reasons… travel history and insufficient funds. At that time, I was already processing a student visa to UK as naija don tire me. So I just focused on the Uk application.

Resumed studies in Uk in January 2022 and applied for gcms notes. Gcms notes came in April only for me to find out that the insufficient fund was because the officer could not access the mybank statement portal. I was like they could have asked me to present another statement na…

So in June 2022, I had already gathered documents and was weighing options again. At that time, visit visa processing from Uk was 8 days while work permit was 10 weeks. So I opted for visit visa. And the wait began… processing time started increasing till it got to around 145 days… after the 145 days I started sending webforms and email but to no avail. I started giving up and was already working on getting a skilled work visa in uk and settle here. Then spouse said we should try the SOWP. I was very reluctant. Started the application since 29th October but didn’t submit till 9th of December.

Submitted 9th December
Biometrics updated 10th December
PPR and BVL 15th December
Submitted passport 16th December
Passport returned to VFS 20th December
Passport delivered 21st December


It can only be God. Don't lose hope!

Congratulations to you guys. This timeline dịkwa very mind-blowing. This is how fast IRCC should be in application processing. But unfortunately they only reserve such speed to applications made in certain countries. Well, I guess our poor institutional verification systems in Nigeria contribute too to the delay.

Application was submitted Oct 2 , 2022
Upfront medical.
Pass biometric Oct 11, 2022
Submitted Web form with Medical sheet Dec 5, 2022
Passed medical Dec 7, 2022
Apparently we forgot to upload bank statement.

IRCC requested for bank statement Dec 7, 2022.
We decided to get new bank statements., uploaded it today Dec 12, 2022

Got PPR today Dec 12, 2022, 10 mins after uploading the bank statement.

Funds:

Naira account: 8mil
Euro account: 8,000 Euro
Pounds account: 6,000 GBP
Canadian Account: 14,000 CAD

I still cannot understand how we forgot to upload the statement initially.

So thankful our mistake did not cost us the Visa.

I am in a similar issue they are yet to request for the statement and I worried the visa officer might just reject the application i was hoping to submit the statement before they ask I tot about webform but there has been a rule not to send documents thru webforms unless they ask for it. Will my wife and daughter require a digital photo for the SOWP and Visit visas on Gckeys? My approved study permit, which I submitted through the New portal last year, didn't require a digital photo, and even a visit visa on the new portal didn't need to.

If YES, Pls any recommended Photo lab (Ikeja, Ikorodu axis).

OR, Can any photographer take a digital photo so far they follow the photo guideline?

Yes, digital photo is needed if you are applying through GCkey.

You can use your phone to snap. The dimension needed is 35mm by 45mm or follow the instructions here thoroughly https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/application/application-forms-guides/temporary-resident-visa-application-photograph-specifications.html

When sending a webform, do not use the one specifically meant for Nairobi, use the general webform.

As for the medical report, even if you didn't upload anything, your profile would be updated as soon as the panel clinic uploads it for IRCC to access.

You should still upload it though.

Yes, you will upload Digital photos with GCKEY..

And yes, any professional photographer can take the passport, just show them the specific IRCC requirements.

You can even take it yourself and a good phone camera..

IRCC requires 4 - 6 months Statement of Account..

I don’t know whether we submitted the application but the study visa required a disgital photo and I used my phone camera.

You can use your phone camera once it is clear and you follow the requirements. Don’t waste money on photographers.
