Senate Approves 2015 Budget; No Allocation For Subsidy by idrisa334: 8:42pm On Apr 28, 2015
The Senate on Tuesday approved a sum of N4, 493,363,957,158 as the budget for the 2015 fiscal year. This was in agreement with the earlier resolution of the lower chamber of the National Assembly. The senate also called on the president-elect, Muhammadu Buhari to prepare a supplementary budget that would take care of shortcomings in the fiscal year and forward same to the National Assembly.

There was no provision for fuel subsidy in the budget passed with some saying subsidy has been tactically done away with, while others believe subsidy should have been reflected in the budget even though it will be insignificant since the price of crude oil is falling globally. Vice Chairman, Senate Committee on Interior, Senator Olubunmi Adetunmbi, however said there would be need for realignment of the budget to fit into the incoming administration priorities.
