As much as I have ample respect for this woman, she just has to shut up.It would have better served the populace if she said this during jonathan's tenure.

First off, GEJ became acting president in February 2010 and was sworn in as president on 5th May 2010.

Was the first paragraph a statement made by Iweala ?

You said she did nothing, we're you the one that brought subsidy payment down from almost 3 trillion naira in 2011 to less than 1 trillion in subsequent years?

Since you believe the call on Buhari is not the exact quotation of Iweala you should also believe that Buhari never said he will make naira equivalent to dollar. Cos I'm yet to see a quote on that.
Be that as it may... I don't get what you're upholding here. 6...5...4 years whichever one what did this govt do tame this cartel? She was in the same ministry during Obj's tenure and now. Why didn't she offer this same idea to gej two years ago? Or they just started collecting subsidy this year?

how old are you? You just barge into a thread and defaecate. Or if you are mature as at 2012 do you have amnesia? Didnt NOI call for subsidy removal but it was rejected, since then she has being managing the situation, now you and your immature type would come here and spew trash.

Fighting the cartel only by reducing the amount paid? Sorry this kind of behaviour is what lost GEJ the election.

You know these people can shut the country and nothing was done to checkmate them.
You did not try to revamp the refineries
Not try to break up their hold by bringing others in. Maybe hold auctions and let then bid
You did not have means of storing these products so even if they decide to act up, you are insured.
Mediocrity is not something you should defend

No need crying when the head is off. Buhari is here already, let's see how he'll wave his magic wand and Nigeria will turn to Dubai.

To be honest there are many Cartels in this country. Petrol, Kerosine, Cement, Generators to name but a few. If GMB can tackle them head on, that will go a very long way to moving the country forward.

Where in the article did she ask Buhari to do something about them and when in the last 4 years and 9 months (not 6 years as ignorant people say) that she's been part of this govt has the fuel situation even this bad?
I wonder the kind of Arithmetic ( act of adding figures) that some fellows did in school that made May 6 2010 - May 4 2015 add up to 6 years and not 5 years.

This government idea of subsidy removal is fraudulent. It simply amounts to putting the burden of of a corrupt system of fraudulent subsidy on the Nigerian people.

The idea of subsidy has always being rediculouse. Subsidy on petrol each year shouldn't be more 300M, highest 500M.

Now this is the reason why it's rediculous and rubbish. Because crude oil was selling at high price, the price to import petrol is higher. But this same high price is what allows Nigeria to make gargantuan stupendous obscene revenue in crude oil sales which dwarfs over a thousand times the expenses we incur from importation of petrol. But what ordinarily should be an advantage, a huge plus, with their voodoo economics, they've turned into disadvantage and huge burden on the shoulders of Nigeria.

Okay now, see what has happened now the oil price has come down: the amount of subsidy needed has come down, but see what has happened to our revenue. They are so depleted that the value of Naira has come down, that Nigeria is having problems keeping up with recurrent expenditure. Some states are already having problems paying their salaries.

So why now should subsidy be a problem? You wonder. High crude oil prices is a big plus for Nigeria. The small inconvenience of subsidy that comes with is miniscule compared to the huge revenue that comes with it. But the evil PDP has turned logic upside down so as to systematically dupe Nigerians billions of dollars for sixteen years.

You sounds like a pathetic failure, is the diff btw 4 n six years a justification?? You just need to move from paranoid. All she has said is a show of how bad the relationship btw diff organs of govt under their watch. Meanwhile, she need not tell anyone what to do, if Buhari on his own part failed after 4 yrs, he ill b voted out as well. The era of following politicians an political parties like religion is over. So you people should admit it for once that you have failed Nigerians. The good stories about Nigeria always starts with BEFORE., while some of you are here dancing and jubilating behind failures.

Not in defence of NOI but those who asked what she did about oil cartel only expressed their paucity of knowledge in the common history of Nigeria. Whose brainchild is subsidy removal on petroleum products?

Do you think the existence of the cartel started during Jonathan’s administration?

The cartel is older than many people posting on NL and comprises very powerful Nigerians. It's more than just criticizing.

The solution is not just subsidy removal. have you asked yourself why on earth a nation who is the 6th or is it 9th biggest producer of crude oil has to import refined oil to meet her local needs? You really need to open your eyes. The refineries are deliberately kept in a comatose state operating at about 17% plant efficiency. No one is talking about building refineries. with the exception of Dangote in very recently. The bottomline is corruption. That is part of the numerous evils PDP has wreaked on nigerians. And that is part of the urgent to do tasks before the new regime.

Did you mention 1trillion?,how the heck did we arrive at that figure for just subsidy payment alone?. that's more than some country's annual budget.

The question is
Why is it only this administration that's having issues with it
Its been on for a very long time and it wasn't as bad as this

The only thing we masses enjoy from govt is fuel subsidy * that's if there's anything like that*
Not everyone can afford N300 per litre

GEJ promised to build or rather make our refineries working 24 months after the 2012 subsidy crisis but today how many of them are working instead of throwing the people into suffering the govt can borrow money, repair the refineries then can raise money from the refined products to pay back its as easy as that if the govt has the masses at hand

Dangote is building a refinery ...will be ready by 2017..only a foolish govt will build refineries after messing up the earlier ones....the best thing is tp sell off these refineries....OBJ did on 2007 only for yardua to revise it.
if you buy car for your son nd he scattered it will you go nd buy another... one or tel him to buy with his money.......building refineries by govt is a waste....sell off these damn things...

I once told someone that just one president cannot solve nigerias problem..we need like four presidents to help the nigerian situation..I swear!!!....Buhari would be so lost in trying to solve the nigerian problem...

The truth is for everytime the masses suffer in nigeria, a microscopic money loving fools smile away to the bank...

You are correct, there are so many cartels..

And thats the reason why we lack the basic infrastructures and utilities in this country...

Nigerians have become so predictable! These days, while reading NL posts, I kinda get a picture of what the comments will be like. Nigerians tend to only see issues short sightedly. What if this woman is telling you something good? Maybe, just maybe she thinks Buhari can profer solution to the problem she and her principal have been battling with... seeing he was a former dictator.
