[b]The financial tsunami, the financial or economic meltdown, the global economic crisis, the credit crunch, the mortgage crisis, the subprime problem, the capital market crash, the depression, e.t.c. Call it what you like, the crisis is here with us and it will end one day. But before then, how do we cope and keep our jobs during the period of this crisis?

The best way to keep your job at this time is to save it!

Start saving it now by applying the following techniques,

Take credit for your work.

This implies that you have to first of all do a great job (work) that is worth taking credit for. Then ensure that both your boss and his superior gets to know about it. Be visible in your organisation.

Volunteer for more mork.
Don't wait to be asked. Just volunteer and do it well.

Chat up your boss and your boss's boss.
In that way they can feel you, and also know you exist. They can easily put a face to your name as a friendly person.

Do self review or appraisal.
What do your colleagues think of you. Find out and improve.

Don't be a high maitenance person.
(always sick, making or giving excuses, late, having one issue or the other, quarellsome, etc).

Do arrive early to work and if necessary work longer hours or stay late. This will enable you cross all the t's and dot all the i's.

Don't gossip about the company.
Remember the walls have ears as they say.

Do feel your boss's plans.
Find out what he thinks about things, his opinions.

Don't ask for a raise or promotion.
It shows you are insensitive.

Minimize telecommuting
(e-mails,text messages, phonecalls, etc)
Face to face contact reinforces your presence.

Don't be eccentric
(irrational, weird, unreasonable, etc).
Project the right image and be relevant at all times.
