More Than A Million Naira Spent On Amara First Gospel Music Video by jbinspiration: 2:13pm On May 06, 2015
Nigerian music industry has taken a new turn. Singers from the gospel section are not left out. Latest in the block is the just released "Joy of the Lord music video by Amara". What actually make these kind of videos expensive is the set-up, not actually what was paid to the production companies. Set-ups like location, especially as "Joy of the Lord video" was shot in Madrid Spain, are quite expensive. And being charged per hour, mean the longer you stayed on location the more dollars you will cough out. 3 days in some of these locations cost nearly half a million naira, This is not exaggerated as some of these locations cost nearly a thousand dollar per day.

Then coming to casts. Music like a movie require casts for art and performance extension and each individuals like dancers, singers, instrumentalists and even passerby(s) cost money. In JOy of the Lord Music Video by Amara. The standby(s) alone that stood to clap for the artist while she appeared and walked down the steps cost about 200,000 naira, nearly each of them were paid $50, approximately 10,000 naira as at the time of the production for an appearance that lasted less than 10 seconds on final video.

Then costumes... This usually cannot be quantified as each set requires different approach to costumes, sometimes these are rented, but 80% of the time these are been purchased. For "Amara Joy of the Lord Video" all the costume used throughout the video from main artist to the dancers and instrumentalist were all purchased for the sole purpose of this video. The video was shot in about 3 days but preparations and production lasted about a month.

I posted this, so that people can actually begin to see where the money goes when they hear people say they spent such an amount of money for a single music video production. I know we can argue all day that it can be done for far less... YES! that may be true, but there is a limit to what you can achieve will low budget... and also what you could not make up for with money, you will definitely be faced with the huge task of making up for it in post production, which involves more time, higher knowledge to maneuver the curves that was created because of the low budget, greater risk etc. The Production Company that produced the video is a Nigeria own company based in Madrid Spain (JBE MULTIMEDIA)
