President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari has promised Nigerians that he will not betray or disappoint them. Buhari also thanked citizens of the country for voting for him despite the many odds they faced. The President-elect made the comments on Wednesday, May 6, 2015, while receiving a delegation of All Progressives Congress (APC) supporters from Taraba State in Abuja “I assure you that the government that the APC will eventually put in place will be effective. We will never betray the people because people risked everything; some lost their lives for this cause to make sure that they voted the leadership they believe in, the leadership they trust in this multi- party democracy,” Buhari said. He also urged the APC governorship candidate of Taraba, Aisha Alhassan not to give up on her bid to be governor. “Aisha, don’t give up. You are younger and this is your first attempt. I contested three times and this is my fourth attempt. I hope that you succeed in court. I hope you will win in the court,” the President-elect said. Alhassan lost to Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Darius Ishaku in the rerun governorship elections which held on Saturday, April 25, 2015. She however described the result as daylight robbery and has challenged it before the state election tribunal. |
