GOVERNORS of Jigawa and Niger states, Alhaji Sule Lamido and Dr Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu, respectively, have told the president-elect, General Muhammadu Buhari, to stop making excuses, but to fulfill his electioneering promises to Nigerians.

The duo spoke on Thursday, at the commissioning of the ultra-modern and multi-billion naira Shiroro bridge, on Shiroro River, in Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State.

They said Nigerians would hold Buhari and the All Progressives Congress (APC) accountable, whether the economy was okay or not.

According to Lamido, “you must fulfill your promises, because there was no condition given on how to do it when you were campaigning for election. Whether the economy is favourable or not, do not give us any excuses.

“We will not tolerate any excuses. Whatever the APC is, they owe it all to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), because PDP, one way or the other, brought almost all of them into politics.

“It is about time for them to reflect, because Nigerians will definitely hold them accountable. They must fulfill all their promises.”

Governor Lamido stated further that throughout the electioneering period, APC never raised any developmental issues but was busy harping on the dysfunctionalities of the nation, which included Boko Haram, corruption and other sundry issues.

They also asked the Adamu Mu’azu-led National Working Committee (NWC) of the PDP to throw in the towel and accept defeat for leading the party to a “disastrous defeat” in the recently held general election.

According to Aliyu “if it is the party’s belief that the leadership be retained, believe me, we will not fight it. Because the actual change will come in March 2016. That is when we will go to the convention and elect new leaders.”

Speaking in similar vein, Governor Lamido said ‘it is not time for blame game. It is time to think and reflect on how to reposition PDP.”

Speaking on the alleged plan to form a new party, Alhaji Lamido said “we have both agreed not to leave the PDP. We dey kampe for PDP, we dey shelele for PDP.”

According to him, “PDP has honoured and dignified me, and I am not leaving it for tenants. Aliyu and I are from home background, while others are from mere house background. We are well groomed right from our homes and we will not leave the party for anyone.”

Prominent traditional rulers, which included the Etsu Nupe and the chairman, Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar; the Emir of Minna, Alhaji Umar Bahago, among others, graced the occasion.

Am sure Buhari would be wishing may 29 never come to pass anytime soon. In the heat of electioneering, he made so much promises that he can never fulfilled and now is the time take the mantle of government and start delivering on his promises.. Paying unemployed graduate and less privileged people when government is finding it difficult to pay workers is nothing but a dream of far away future.. Persecuting corrupt people without making any meaningful changes to better the life of Nigerians will only stir masses anger toward him. Jonathan has helped Buhari to fight BK to some extend and i believe he would have little problem making BH thing of the past.

This is why I prefer people not making excuses for GMB. He's not a kid. He's in his 70s. He knew the state of Nigeria before making those promises. He has already told us Nigeria's problems during the campaign period, now, we need solutions, not more complaints of Nigeria's problems.

Please, its high time we start holding our leaders accountable to their promises. And its also high time we stop talking about '16years' ish because many foreigners on this forum will start thinking Nigeria was Dubai before 1999, with quality healthcare system, great educational standards, constant electricity etc. Enough of that please. Some retards on this forum were probably less than 5years old by 1999 sef but will come on here and spill garbage.

Let the same excuses not continue.

We must have excuses, cos Nigerians love people who easily make them forget their past.

.
Example; A Dictator coming back after 30 years to lead the country again as a democratically elected president. The Irony of it is that he got to power first through barrel of a gun. And 30 years later Nigerians rewarded him with their votes.
If that is not excuse enough, then I don't know what is.

Nigerians have 4yrs to evaluate Buhari. PDP on the other hand, have 16yrs of wilderness experience before even the thought of coming back to power.

I make bold to say that after PDP failure come 2019, if they do not merge with other parties or rename their failed party, nobody will touch pdp will a 1-mile pole.

Am no PDP fan. Having an opinion contrary to yours is not a bad thing. Learn to have political tolerance. You all blame Jonathan as if he was the only one ruling for the whole 16 years while you guys turn blind eyes to Obasanja and he is even giving Buhari blueprint how to run his government.
Buhari keep saying PDP has brough Nigeria to her kneels in the last 16 years and yet associate and take direction from someone who govern for 8 years out of the 16 years of PDP is the heights of hypocrisy.
Jomathan performed below peoples expectation but not a total failure as some people want us to believe and Buhari should concentrate on how to go about making the country a better place...
Learn tolerance bro... We must not agree on every issues...
