Exactly ,their audacity is second to non thereby affriming to the fact that the corruption oozes out from the head itself .
What still baffles me is how they use that kind of ill-gotten wealth to feed their children at home. They simply do not have any conscience left at all.

At the highlighted ,if you frequently buy your stuffs online because of time schedule and the fact that most of our importers will always import inferior goods and pass it on for a quality product for the same exorbitant price ,then you're just stuck with these custom demons. You won't see friends to help you out all the time.

Somebody needs to clean up the system abeg, they are extorting Nigerians.

This incident clearly kills business imports into Nigeria, and unnecessarily adds to the high cost of doing business. Could you imagine I walked into a courier company in the US and the lady was asking me if I wanted to under-declare the value because that's what her clients sending items to Nigerja usually do, citing reasons that customs usually comes after these high priced goods, I was startled and quickly told her "No, attach the receipt of the purchase too, because if you under-declare, you give customs a reason to exploit you". She smiled and said she heard people are very rich in Nigeria and she'd like to visit someday

Of course they've used that slogan to make an illegal dealing look ok .
Why has the government both past and present not addressing these issues? after all if the rules were properly administered people won't be cutting corners because the citizens too do reduce the price of their items to avoid scrutiny .I can bet you that those guys has a better knowledge of the prices of goods grin

Our Governmants are just stuck with the petrodollar mentality ,when money can be generated internally through legitimate means.

As in eh, that one shocked me when I noticed that Americans would be asking Nigerians to under-declare their goods and this is not good for the image of the country.

Why would someone encourage a people to do what they can't even try in their homeland? I think the Nigerian concept of doing business is really corrupting a lot of good people out there.

Just imagine an American doing this without barting an eyelid.
Naija , I hail thee - This is a country where everything is possible as long as money is involved . grin

This idea of Nigerians being very rich is a concept borne out of our insatiable needs for foreign goods and boy! Nigerians can spend I swear.

Please stop saying BAD THINGS STARTED BEFORE GOODLUCK. It is very annoying! Yes, they were bad before he came but he had the opportunity to change them! When will people like you get that into their heads?!
Clerverly:
What baffles me the more, is that, these organizations generate Billions of Naira yearly but instead of remitting to the State's coffer, they share it among themselves(staff) and the government ends up allocating more fund for them to share!

NIMASA, NPA, are not paying dime to the FG as generated revenue!

To be fair, it didn't start with jonadafft, it has been the practice since God-Knows-When!

But it got to Stop, for meaningful development to take place!

My brother this is very true. Nigerians can spend eh, Kai just walk into stores like Walmart and BestBuy during summer and you'll see Nigerians spending anyhow. And these corrupt politicians are the ones that give very rich impression about Nigeria, the way they spend in shops and on girls and hookers etc

I had a similar experience recently. I bought a preamp for my studio from the UK. The guy asked me what value to put on the item and I said 200 pounds instead of 500. Lo and behold, customs 'held' the item and I paid 20 pounds (10% of 200 pounds) as fee.

Those custom guys knew the exact price of any item, reduce it and you won't find it funny .

They will always show up with their menu list and serve you adequately grin

Well....it was a custom made item (i prefer those because you get excellent value for money).

Customs would not have a price list for that as opposed to a standard Amazon purchase.

Until d government implements a compulsary electronic payment system for tax payment, revenue payment n every other royalties payable by organisations, this nonsense will never stop. With dat d organisations will nt hv any direct financial dealings with d agencies, rather, they make d payment in bnk n present a confirmation slip to d agency concern. Moreso, d govt can b able to monitor companies n regulate fraud.

And we wey get cyber cafe go get more work to print confirmation letter

Exactly ,most peeps shop abroad because of that mentality with Nigerian importers.

Imagine someone importing a Gucci watch copy and wants to sell it at the same price like the original to the naive unsuspecting customer.

Though Amazon purchases can still be doctored as soon as it lands on your shipping address especially if they didn't come with their price tag and receipts from the original seller.

Fact still remains that Nigerians can buy sha ,no thanks to a Government that hasn't embarked on a people oriented policies that would manufacture goods locally with those big conglomerate linning up for a piece of the pie.
But again if you bring in markets like the Amazons and co here they will shut out our medium scale markets though with proper government regulations in place it will create lots of employments for the teeming population .
Jumia and Konga are the most annoying market one can ever buy from though Konga deserves a pat on the back.

There isnt a single organization in nigeria where there isnt corruption and theft.

Where there's no money to steal, office supplies and furniture are carted away.

Ive seen a local government chairman roll up the sitting room carpet at the end of his tenure. True story.
