My experience while traveling from Kano to Owerri suggests to me that a driver must be seconded in order to have a safe trip in very long journeys. In the vehicle, I was keen to observe the driver whose eyes were dragging down at intervals for sleep while in very high motion. I discovered that he was very tired having driven for several hours without sleep. It behoves on the law enforcement agents like the FRSC to ensure that drivers are seconded in very long trips and also ensure that the co driver drives from a certain point. this rule should apply to all commercial vehicles going beyond certain kilometres.
