i will patiently await the time when those clamouring for siasia would be calling for his head.

many were calling for a nigerian coach- they got him now they calling for someone else almost immediately

oxford:

Its true that we have over 140 millions Nigerians but for now we are talking of Siasia vs Amodu. If any thinks he knows some with a better record, why not bring forth?

better record at the same level?

I dont particularly like amodu but i think the next person we bring should be someone for the long term
so there'll be stability not someone that will be looking over his shoulder right from a goalless draw

Siasia is a good coach but softly softly. If you watch carefully there is a particular type of bonding he has with the juniror players that make up his team. I guess that all those lads have in their mentality a desire to play well and make a name for themselves. I doubt if he will get that type of commitment from the senior players when the chips are down. Flying Eagles is not Green Eagles!!! Just mark my words because some people may be highly disappointed if and when Siasia flops.

@ post

pls lets drop all these gbati-gbati talk!! pls Amodu is a waste of space,we all knew it. hell knows how he got back that job shocked shocked shocked shocked

siasia is if not best nigeria can offer now, u need someone that can take a bold step right, to make a change jesussssssssssssssssssssssssss! has Amodu done that! damn what is wrong with yall? all he does is movin from 1 buka joint dey chop ewedu and yellow gari. when siasia was galvanising for support, he didnt get that, he went ahead even from his own purse to excute his plans unlike your foolish and useless Amodu that wastes our hard earn money travelling and begging those useless players that Super eagles dnt even need; people like shittu that is rustin away in Bolton bench for ages, that needed super eagles to boost up their profile hahhhaha, who is fooling who! shittu that aint match fit, havent even played 1 match, hench not fit finding their way in the 1st team

Now let me tell u the difference between Siasia and Amodu;one is a coach while the other is an eba chopper! when Siasia was begging Mikel to honour his invitation; Mikel was comming up with all sorts of excuses; Siasia told him straight away to go to hell!! can u picture THAT!

as someone that resides in nigeria u would expect amodu to have an open-camp whereby a lot of players locally will be tested and selected to blend in young flesh legs in the national team. just give wenger a visa to nigeria to see what he come up with? so what not can u say aint the coach wahala? he cant even boost of 1 or 2 new players in the team

The naked truth is amodu might just have clean qualifying sheet so far however one should be concerned as we never won comfortably all them matches played.

For the sake of fairness and goodwill let siasia replace amodu with immediate effect!! no gbatti-words will make a change me afraid!

I dare anyone on nairaland to name any nigerian coach apart from siasia that has shown how good he is @ the global level, if there's nobody then please hold your loose tongues, and let we siasia advocates continue with our campain

Please show us the incompetecies of Amodu and show how that has affected his campaign for the world cup qualifiers so far. No doubt, Siasia is good but Amodu has also shown that he is good enough to handle the super eagles. Stop distracting him with your calls for his head. No one changes the wining team, for now, he has proved to be a winner and there is no fact yet, that Siasia will do better in same situation.

Instead of asking for his head, why not give him useful advice and suggestions and see if he would take the good ones there or not. Learn to build rather than pull down.

wat makes sia one better is his integrity. ,
Remember mikel felt too big 4 d qualifiers and wit d useless men in d FA like Ogunjobi they wanted to draft him into d squad 4 the games but siasia stood his ground. had it been some hungry coaches they would have bowed at d feet of the chelsea boom and the FA, for now siasia is d only one wit guts to bring players from obscurity not demanding money, for now i think HE HIS THE ONE, SIA ONE

I support siasia 200000000%. My fear however is that NFF will allow things to get too bad with amodu before they invite sia1. Lets have a coach that will make every player earn his shirt.

Super Eagles’ harvest of red worries Thisday
By Olawale Ajimotokan, 02.17.2009
Tuesday, February 17, 2009

Super Eagles coach Shaibu Amodu has expressed grave concern over the poor disciplinary record of the Super Eagles in recent international engagements. And in this he said the team of coaches of the national side has asked the players to limit their on-field tantrums so that the problem occasioned by such would not create a selection crisis for the team during the World Cup qualifying campaign.

“We are concerned about those cards and we have told the players at team talks to put their outburst on the pitch in check as the two instances of red in recent past have been direct expulsions. I am sure we will learn from those experiences,” Amodu said.

Taiwo Taiwo and Sani Kaita are the two Super Eagles who have seen the red in the last two matches involving the national team.

Taiwo, who plays for Olympic Marseille of France was red carded by match referee Mike Dean for rising to the taunting baits of Jamaica’s Jermaine Johnson during last week’s friendly match against the Reggae Boyz in London.

Taiwo and Johnson allowed emotion to rule over them and had to be restrained after a tug of war at the corner flag just before the end of the first half. The two were sent off by the referee.

Before Taiwo, however, holding midfielder Kaita, who plays for Monaco, also became a victim as he got flashed the red by the referee for confronting match officials for their decision to allow the late Colombian goal, scored by Garcia Falcao. The entire Nigerian bench had actually disputed the goal, which it believed was scored from an offside position of play.

Post-match playback however showed the goal was legitimate, as Onyekachi Apam had kept the Colombians on-side from the right side of the defence before the ball was played through.

Hard tackling Taiwo will serve out his red card suspension against France in St Etienne on June 3 but will be available for selection when the Eagles visit Mozambique in a World Cup qualifying match on March 29.

now just listen to your coach! kia kia chineke god pls pls pls siasia we are calling

ABUJA  —  Apparently disturbed over the Super Eagles dismal outing in the international friendly against the Reggae Boyz of Jamaica, the Nigeria Football Federation has scheduled an emergency meeting before the end of this month to discuss the team’s performance vis-à-vis the Eagles subsequent 2010 World Cup qualifiers.

Amodu
It was learnt that notice has been served members of the Executive Committee of the NFF on the meeting.Ademola Olajire, the NFF Chief Media Officer, confirmed that a meeting has been scheduled before the end of this month, pointing out that the Eagles’ woeful performance against Jamaica in London last week would be exhaustively discussed.

“It was shameful the way our players performed on the field. They played as if there was nothing at stake”, Ademola Olajire said as he expressed that Shuaibu Amodu since he returned to the country last Friday has not forwarded his report to the NFF.It was not learnt that the Super Eagles handler has not been responding to calls made to his cell phones.

U know the guy can't lead , how do u expect this guy to win against the Tunisians who have many Brazilean in the team and a world class coach.
Someone above mentionned that siasia could only handle those young guys who need exposure, who have the desire to be seen by big clubs: well that is all we need, , from what i see the team that went to the Olympics in china will only need maybe 10 more experienced players to do the job.
Siasia is the most ready, because he got a team ready to go.
For those who doubt all they have to do is re watch the 2 finals ( Holland 2006 and China Olympics) his team played against Argentina, try noticing the improvement of the defense handling the Argentine. any other team in that tournament would have taken 3 goals easily against that powerful Argentinian team.

The guy was a smart player, and smart player makes a good coach, please keep sending your reaction, please please
Re: Nigerians For Siasia Campaign by Olumide7(m): 8:18am On Feb 18, 2009
What has Amodu done that is bad? the fact that he drew 0-0 to jamaica? Yes, Siasia is a good coach but don't forget that Naija didn't lose a game in the qualifiers and the only goal we conceded was an own goal.
The NFF cannot just decide to fire someone because they feel there is someone better. Amodu will only be relieved of his duties if he draws or loses important games, so far he hasn't, so the job is still his. For all we know, Siasia could coach Nigeria and be a flop!
Re: Nigerians For Siasia Campaign by Nobody: 10:17am On Feb 18, 2009
Olumide7,
Yes,nil-nil against Jamaica may not be bad.
But we didn't look like a team at all.In fact they played better.
We didn't lose in the qualifiers.
But who was our opposition?Equatorial Guinea,Sierra Leone.
if we had dropped a single point against these teams, then Shame on him.
He did what he had to do against those teams.
We've had no competition thus far.So we can't really judge him till he faces a Tunisia,or Morroco,or their like.
I won't join in on the Siasia bandwagon yet,but it seems to me that he has what it takes to suceed at international level.
after him,Tella could have been the next option.
Siasia has attended coaching courses by himself.Amodu waits for NFF to sponsor him,and since it's non-existent,he's likely not to have updated himself for a long while now.It shows, when Amodu's Eagles play:patternless,no co-ordination.
Outside those two (Siasia and tella),it's extremely difficult to find who else can of those local coaches.
The way I see it,we might need a good/sound foreign technical adviser not too far from now.Not just any white-skinned idiot.

Hmm, a foreign coach so soon?
Re: Nigerians For Siasia Campaign by Nobody: 11:33am On Feb 18, 2009
men,face it,
outside Siasia,who have we got?
That's my opinion.
Our own coaches fail to make themselves up to date on techniques.
Ask them what formation is,some of them don't know what 4-4-2 means. Not to talk of how to implement it.
Re: Nigerians For Siasia Campaign by Gayigaskia(m): 4:21am On Feb 19, 2009
The bad signal is the players that he is using right now. If he continues to use the useless players that failed us against Angola and in Ghana, then disaster will be right on the corner for us.
At this point we should be building a young strong team for the next two world cup instead of parading players like Kanu who didn't play for Portsmouth for at least 3 months. But guess what Siasia already built a team that came close to gold twice ( Holland 2004 and China Olympics), for 6 or 8 years he coached these boys. Oh i forget they won Gold in Cotonou too.

think about it Guys, lets make the calls Please!

Amodu just not good enough! is it that hard ?
Re: Nigerians For Siasia Campaign by tayoccu(m): 10:24am On Feb 20, 2009
for crying out loud!!! is there anything wrong with giving the best hands we have the job?
the only reason Amodu keeps getting the eagles job isn't because of his tactical prowess, its because his got god-fathers in the federation, and he's their favorite "yes man".

Right now what we need to strengthen our national teams is a tactically strong coach, who can deploy the right formation for each opposition, enforce discipline, someone who's played the game at the highest level.
and who is that man?

SIASIA!!!

AM JUST GOING TO CHEAP IN A LITTLE INFORMATION SIASIA IS NO 15 ON FIFA'S WORLD COACH RANKING AND NO 1 IN AFRICA AS AT NOW,SO WHY THE NOISE ABOUT IS POTENTIALS.
WHY DON'T WE LEARN TO APPRECIATE WHAT WE HAVE AT THE RIGHT TIME.
AM SURE PEOPLE CAN JUDGE WHO IS BETTER BETWEEN SIASIA AND AMODU WITHOUT SENTIMENTS WITH SIASIA'S RANKING.

ALL AM SAYING IS THAT SIASIA AS TO COME INTO THE FILM NOW AND TAKE CHARGE OF THE SENIOR BOYS NOW THAT HE IS HUNGRY TO BREAK THE RECORD "THAT INDIGIENIOUS COACHES ARE NOT UPTO THE TASK"
Re: Nigerians For Siasia Campaign by Gayigaskia(m): 3:53am On Feb 21, 2009
@adamsi

This is not based on that ranking, this is solely based on past glories and happiness that this dude brought us (Nigerians).
Re: Nigerians For Siasia Campaign by Redman44(m): 8:12pm On Feb 21, 2009
Look Guys, Samson Siasia is the man that should lead us to South Africa 2010. He is the only Nigerian coach with a website-

www.siaone.com

He is also the best Nigerian coach at the moment. He has taken the pains to get coaching certificates and constantly updates himself on the modern rudiments of the game. He is technically and tactically better than Amodu Shuaibu. Amodu did not play for the Super Eagles as a footballer. Samson Siasia was outstanding for the Flying Eagles and the Super Eagles. Siasia knows how to turn average players into world beaters. He knows how to get the best out of his players. His Holland 2005 Squad and his Beijing Olympics Squad Played like brave Gladiators. They gave their all and almost clinched the gold medal on two occasions.

Samson Siasia is the man for the job. Without Mikel Obi and Taiye Taiwo, he still got a silver medal in China. His boys did not lose to Argentina in the final match, they lost to that brilliant player called Lionel Messi. IF ONLY OGBUKE HAD PLAYED IN THAT FINAL MATCH!! The argentines were glad he did not play. Samson Siasia does not believe in using tired legs. He is like Clemens Westerhof who loves discovering new soccer talent. Siasia also knows how to use players positively. Look at how he used Victor Anichebe and Ajilore in Beijing. His popularity did not come cheap. He worked hard for it.

NFF, Please do the right thing by making Sisia the coach of the Super Eagles. Amodu is not bad, but he can't lead us to the World Cup. He is not techically sound for that yet. I wonder what would happen if Nigeria was to play Spain tomorrow. Our deficiencies will be exposed straight away. Lets do the right thing now and give Samson Sisaia the chance to do his thing again.

I don't know why our sport Administrators like misbehaving, they put their "yes men" first , then when things go wrong they run to the pros for help.
why not just put the pro from the onset?

   Hard knocks on Mikel
By MERCY JACOB
Monday, March 9, 2009 sun

Hard knocks have come the way of Chelsea midfielder, John Mikel Obi (The Catalyst), as top British sports journalist, Sarah Winterburn, has hit the Super Eagles’ star with a wave of criticisms.

•Mikel Obi

Winterburn stated in a sweeping column in England that Mikel was not good enough for the Blues, while positing that the loss of Michael Essien made the former Lyn Oslo of Norway star a virtually ever-present player at Chelsea, but maintained that the lad was not good enough for a team chasing the title.

“The fact that Manchester United made £12million on him is a mystery of modern football and surely one of the steals of the century.

“He possesses little of the calmness of Claude Makelele or the intensity of Essien, offering a 'shield' for the defence as effective as a colander and does very, very little offensively,” she explained.

“On Tuesday night against Portsmouth, he somehow allowed Sean Davis to shine despite being mathematically outnumbered in midfield. There was little surprise when he was hauled off to be replaced by Juliano Belletti. Is there a bigger myth than Mikel in English football,” she quipped.

Winterburn ended with a prediction that Mikel will now lose his place in the Chelsea mainframe, as Essien makes his long-awaited return from injury.

“When Essien gets fully fit, Mikel will surely be more often than not confined to the bench,” the critical columnist concluded.

now once again these are the so called buhhhhaa on the so called 22-man list huh
the foolish coach was once asked how come all the players on ur list aint arent playin in the 1st team list; now this is the fool sayin oh there is nothin i can o about it afterall england lost to spain, nobody call for murder but why different in nigeria huh

My days ’re numbered - Amodu
From Gbenga Ayeni and Rasheed Adewuyi, London
Sunday, March 15, 2009
Arshavin (second right) celebrates with

Theo Walcott. AP PhotoSUPER Eagles handler, Shuaibu Amodu has dropped a bombshell saying that his days as the national coach are numbered, Tribunesports report.

Amodu, while fielding questions in a recent interview in London stated that he was already prepared for the worst and would try to put his best while still in charge.

According to him, his romance with the Super Eagles would be shortlived unless the national team qualifies for the 2010 World Cup to be hosted by South Africa.

He stated that he was sure that his appointment would be terminated by the Nigeria Football Federation[NFF] if he failed to win a ticket. “I will lose my job if the team does not qualify for the World Cup. I know I will be sacked by the NFA. “

And I think this is not strange, it has happened before and even when you win a World Cup ticket in Nigeria,it does not guarantee your job; that is the level of our understanding and passion for the game. But I am going to put in my best''

However, Amodu said that he would not promise Nigerians the mundial ticket saying that it was a collective responsibility of everybody to assist in any capacity. Tribunesports recalls that Amodu, who has been in and out of the Nigeria senior national team on a couple of times in the past, was sacked by the Football authorities after qualifying for the 2002 Korea/Japan world cup.

Amodu and his assistants, Stephen Keshi and Joseph Erico were given the boots on the grounds that the squad had demonstrated a high level of indiscipline. The development also swept away top Super Eagles players like Sunday Oliseh, Victor Ikpeba, Finidi George and few others.

Also, in a similar circumstance, former Chairman Galadima Ibrahim was roundly castigated for his involvement and outburst when Nigeria failed to qualify for the last world cup played in Germany.

NFF PLEASE GIVE US SIASIA!!!!!!!!
Re: Nigerians For Siasia Campaign by Nobody: 12:54pm On Mar 31, 2009
From what we saw on Sunday,I concluded the following.

Amodu
a)cannot get a result even if his life depended on it at that moment
b) cannot instill discipline or call players' bluff when they report late to camp
c) is not brave enough to change tactics when things go wrong
d) is not informed about which so-called Super Eagle is playing regularly with his team
e)is not brave enough to discover new, hungry talents that can get results for him
f)is not brave enough to field these new talents, preferring to hide under the so-called "established stars" and use them as excuses when the team fails to perform
g)cannot generate confidence in me no matter the opponent,as compared to Westerhoff.
h)does not have the slightest idea on how to use certain players for specific roles

In the light of this,I certify him UNFIT to lead the Senior National Team.
