An early minute brow between President-Elect, General
Muhammadu Buhari and governors elected on the
platform on the All Progressives Congress may be in the
offing as Buhari has asked the governors to steer clear of
his ministerial list.
Vanguard gathered that Buhari is contemplating a system
operated in the second republic during the era of National
Party of Nigeria, NPN, where appointment of ministers was
done by the national secretariat of the party and not by the
governors.
A source at the National Headquarters of the APC Monday
said that Buhari had directed the leadership of the party to
pass the message of non interference to the governors

Exactly. Once ministers know they are not answerable to State Governors they would be more likely to effectively discharge their duties.

I dont agree with Buhari on this. Instead of sidelining the governors completely I think he should rather tell each governor to submit a list of people and then Buhari and his team should pick from the list submitted based on merit after all due diligence has been done. That way the governors get to participate while at the same time not being able to unilaterally choose the new ministers.

I just feel Buhari should not start his tenure by outrightly antagonizing or sidelining the governors even though he has very good intentions. There are more subtle of doing things.

I think the message has been passed

It's better. All the advisers that come in form of ex politicians and current politicians should face their portfolio and focus on their own states while those ex ones who have nothing to offer should keep shut and shove their advice into their yansh. If they were so wise, Nigeria will be in a much better place than we are today. They ruled and destroyed Nigeria. Their advice is hereby poisonous.
