Di Maria did not have the kind of season we all expected. Towards the end of the season he was slow, looked tired, lacked the drive we all knew him for and lacked goals. But Di Maria was never a goal scoring machine in Real Madrid,he had 124 Appearances with 22 goals in 4 seasons, for Benfica he had 76 App and 7 goals for 3 seasons, Rossario Central he had 36 App and 6 goals. But he gave assist as he did in his 1st season with Manchester United and if they let him go it will be a big mistake. Depay is a promising talent but still has to prove himself on the big stage, Maria has done that. During the world cup campaign his absence in the last 2 Argentina matches was felt. They lacked the pace and Messi and Aguero had to struggle to get the ball. When they played Germany in a friendly there was a difference. Di Maria has struggled not because he does'nt understand the Premier league which to me is over-hyped but because of injuries, bad team play from the midfielders and his home incident.(If the PL was as good as it is made to be why has it struggled in the UEFA Competitions and Lionel Messi has wiped all big teams from Man-U to Man City)Di Maria is an agile, creative, and highly technical player, who possesses excellent dribbling skills and ball control, as well as great pace, stamina, and acceleration, attributes which allow him to beat players easily in one on one situations..
I believe next season with United playing in the UEFA league and hopefully the transfer of some good players in and letting go of the excess baggage, Di Maria will have his United moment.
