The Oxford dictionary defines a statement as follows "A clear expression of something in words" . Most scholarship opportunities come with requirements for application. As a scholarship applicant, you will need to meet the requirements of the scholarship providers to qualify for the scholarship.

We all know that news about scholarship spreads fast, this means that many other qualified people will be applying for these scholarships too. The scholarship provider will be faced with the difficult task of narrowing their choice to the number of slots they have. This is when your personal statement should set you apart from the rest.

Your personal statement should be a clear expression of why you should be chosen for the scholarship. It should be a personal sales essay, combining your interests, your achievements and your purpose. It should make the scholarship provider's job easier by writing in easy to understand words, and by practicing good selling techniques. Why do you think you deserve the scholarship? What will you do if you are awarded the scholarship? These questions should be clearly answered in your personal statement. Don't make the mistake of trying to oversell yourself, you will seem deceitful if you do this. Instead be truthful about your achievements, and talk about your goals. Write in clear, easy to understand words, and make sure you proofread your writing.

A good personal statement will give you a good chance of winning a scholarship if you are qualified for it. If you do not know how to sell yourself in words, ask someone who knows how, or get an expert to help you. The expert may charge a little fee , but the outcome may be worth every penny you spend.
