South Africa is good for you if you are educated, there is nothing for you if you think you can come here to stay hustle. If you are educated, you take your result to the SAQB, they will convert it to their own result, from there you create for yourself resume.

You have to know places to live, safest place for Nigerians are Durban, Cape Town, Pretoria and some other province, joburg is out of it if you are visiting South Africa for the first time, don't dress like someone who just came in, don't take too much pictures in a whereby you can't find security. Don't Bleep around with their girls, although they are cheap, but most of them got disease, and possessed with evil spirits.

Well, have got to go. Talk later

Goodguy,if you don't mind can you tell your current occupation?Downtown Joburg is dangerous and filthy, even though the goverment is trying to revamp it before the worldcup,I will never stay there atleast for the next ten years.

As Hadexman pointed out, just like in any country if you plan well and you are educated you are likely to live in better and save areas, apply for work while you are still in your native country,it cut all the hussle when you come through.Your company if it does not help you with accomodation they will advise you on the safest place around.South Africa is two worlds in one, there is a first world South Africa and third world,if you have money and education then you will live in the first world, and if you're poor, too bad.So when you come through you must know which South Africa you're visiting.

I couldn't agree with u more. South Africa is just like any other country in terms of social challenges. As RSA stated u need to be well informed before u relocate to SA or any country for that matter. Equip urself with the right skills u wont have any problems I lived in SA for close to 4 yrs and quite frankly I feel its the same with other 3rd world countries faced with challenges like poverty, HIV Aids and Crime. Just get the right education and the right mind set u won't have much problems. I know quite a handful of Americans who relocated to SA and they are not complaining.
Ciao!

SA is a civilized and generally just like any other country. The main problems that most foreigners encounter is that of joblessness. Its not surprising too find an accountant running a hair salon or being a street vendor in SA. Besides, we (SAfricans) face the same problem in our country.

There was a time towards the end of the year 2008; all foreigners were being sent out of SA. I don't know if that was solved but the Kenyans were brought back to the country by the gava(Government). It was terrible seeing shops owned by Non-SA's being burnt down.
I hope that was solved anyway sad sad sad

Oh boy West Africa and South Africa no be the same people. The SA's are just beginning to experience cultures from other Africans and need time to adjust to many things, besides their history is extremely different from most West or Cental Africans who share more similar commonalities in terms of culture and way of life.

I advise you to stay within your own kind for the first couple of years until you know your surroundings. A majority of SA's are not bad people and seek to understand other cultures and peoples but there are a segment of them who are threatened  by the competition other Africans pose and the events in may 08 only seek to strengthen this mind set so know your surroundings otherwise enjoy yourself.

Ps If you can relocate to other parts of Sa apart from JBourg.

I have leave in SA for close to 7 years, I really Nigerians have contributed to CRIME in SA, because 70% of the Nigerians that leave in Joburg are street Hustlers they deal with drugs,419 and all kinds of illegal activities. They have really gave the rest of US bad names. especially IGBO people they are crooks
