This new administration rode on the mantra of change. Change from endemic corruption. Change from power failure, insecurity and general cluelessness. Infact if you listened to their manifesto it seemed President Goodluck's administration had succeeded in achieving little or nothing, despite the huge financial resources recorded during the period. As a result, the entire Nigerian citizenry couldn't wait for GEJ tenure to come to an end. The expectations of Nigerians for the new administration was very high. It was believed Buhari possessed the magic wand to right all the wrongs in society. Even the international community were somewhat pleased with the outcome of the elections: a change in administration.

However, just a few days after being sworn in, it would seem some Nigerians are already raising eyebrows and questioning every single move being made by the new President. Firstly, the declaration of assets debacle came and went with people screaming that Buhari should publish his assets in the media as promised. The fact that he had declared his assets at the CCB as required by law was simply not enough. (Recall that GEJ had told those who wanted him to declare assets to "go to hell"!)
Next, same Nigerians went after his wife for wearing expensive wristwatch. Nevermind the watch was not bought or paid for with State resources. (The American and French first ladies are known to wear designer clothes and jewelry worth thousands of dollars!)
The dust had barely settled with this when some other disgruntled Nigerians began screaming at the President for appointing two media specialists as members of his team. The grouse was that it amounted to duplication of office.

Since then it seems every single thing the President does must be faulted one way or the other. He travelled to Niger and Chad in his campaign efforts to secure solidarity in tackling book haram, and some people started shouting that he should not have gone.

In a nutshell, it appears some Nigerians are just insatiable, hyper-cynical or are simply remnants of the last administration who have refused to accept that the almighty PDP lost to APC, a party that was initially regarded as inconsequential. But what people should remember is that Nigeria belongs to all of us. As far as I can see, the President has so far only moved in the direction of making good his campaign promises.
Now, of course it is important to have a strong opposition in the country, but I think Buhari should be given some space to do his job.

I also advice Buhari to remain focused and not yield to people who are only out to criticize without given any options or alternative advice. If Buhari fails, it is the entire Nigeria that will suffer. So it is important we all put hands on deck.

OP, you don't need to appeal to anyone to give the president a chance. Once the president starts to perform as expected, all doomsday sayers shall keep quiet.
