Nigerian VP Yemi Osinbajo Barred From First Buhari's National Security Briefing by JerryJJZ(m): 5:04am On Jun 06, 2015 |
Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari allegedly barred Vice President Yemi Osinbajo from attending a national security meeting this week. Osinbajo was apparently refused "security clearance" and “locked out” of Buhari’s first briefing with the national security adviser on the president’s orders, Nigerian online newspaper the Trent reported. Buhari allegedly excluded his vice president from the closed-door briefing due to security concerns over Osinbajo attending the “very sensitive meeting.” Buhari apparently felt it was too early in the day to bring Osinbajo, the former Lagos state attorney general and senior pastor, into his first briefing with the security chief, a top government source told the Trent on Wednesday. The exclusive meeting on Monday with National Security Adviser Sambo Dasuki and other security officials lasted for hours and was part of the “debriefing process,” sources told Nigerian newspaper the Daily Trust. Buhari was informed on the security situation in Nigeria, where the Islamist militant group Boko Haram has killed and displaced thousands of people in the last six years. “They need to brief the president on the security situation in their various areas. They need to update him officially on the situation on ground,” a presidential aide told the Daily Trust on Tuesday. The meeting comes after the president announced the relocation of the anti-insurgency command center from the capital city Abuja to Maiduguri, the Borno state capital that has suffered a series of deadly attacks in recent days including suicide bombings and a grenade bombardment. More than 50 people have been killed in Maiduguri since Buhari was inaugurated on May 29. The president said the command center would remain in the Borno state capital until the insurgents were restrained. “The command center will be relocated to Maiduguri and remain until Boko Haram is completely subdued. But we cannot claim to have defeated Boko Haram without rescuing the Chibok girls and all other innocent persons held hostage by insurgents,” Buhari said during his inauguration speech on May 29. Prior to his inauguration, Buhari expressed dismay that former President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration had withheld information and refused to brief the incoming government. The party-elect All Progressives Congress slammed the outgoing People's Democratic Party for hindering a smooth transition one week before the presidential inauguration, Premium Times reported. http://www.ibtimes.com/nigerian-vice-president-yemi-osinbajo-barred-buharis-national-security-briefing-1955235?rel=latest4

Let the propaganda continue.. "Top Govt source" told Trent or Tent/trend this, right? And the "Top Govt source " knew the actual reason behind the VP not being there? So its mandatory according to the Constitution to be there? Someone should pls educate me. Also who are the "top govt officials" (that incidentally now make up the sources) in the new Govt's cabinet? I like learning new things. 2 Likes |

does it realy matter whether osibanjo is there or not. What if there were other pressing matters he ws attending to? Besides its one nigeria and the insurgency is affecting the north not the south. Osibanjo is a pastor and a lawyer what will his presence still add to buhari's own? |

Brokenbars:Distrust? Don't you think its rather too early to be looking for loopholes? If the VP was inevitably indisposed, probably on another more important and urgent function that same day, should he had stayed so as to avert this kind of headline? Do you realize the magnitude of work in the hand of this new govt and the very short time they have to start giving us results as demanded, hence the possibility of multitasking which may not exclude the VP getting actively engaged in some other highly prioritized task. |

@Codedeben, Osinbajo was BARRED. He was prohibited from attending the meeting. Nothing to do with being disposed or indisposed. He was simply not allowed to attend. They did not consider him worthy. Is it clear to you now ?. Yorubas have made a complete fool of themselves. Tinubu thought he was being smart, but Buhari and the Northern tigers are actually the smart ones. Tinubu was used. He was nothing but their ATM. Osinbajo will be given only worthless functions to perform as well serve tea and coffie. |

Well its getting cLear that buhari is about to put tinubu aside. Tinubu has been used. Buhari knows once osibanjo is inside tinubu knows what is been talked about. I have always said from pictures and videos that buhari treatment of his vp is a master servant relationship. The guy wanted amechi as his vp but party politics gave him osinbanjo. The fulanis are about to prove that they don't work under any God farther that's not fulani. I just hope wen nigeria goes down the blame would not be put on us the yourbas. |
