The whole system is a big fraud. Even the so called genuine doctors cannot diagnose simple ailments how much more a fake colleague . Wonder what database system they have in place that could not trigger this anomaly all this while.

The "doctor" has also made an allegation of uncovering a fraud while being whisked away. Maybe he is indeed caught for blowing the whistle in the first place. With him in the gaol, case cannot be prosecuted further. Hope the family will be protected and made to reveal the identity of the fraudsters as well. They should accept the fate of what befalls them & endeavor to be patriotic citizens of our great fatherland, Nigeria.

I have heard similar story before, it was during NYSC, this time, it was a lady, she was serving as a doctor with one govt agency in Abuja, but she always avoided clinical roles, she will quickly opt for other administrative function because the director in that office was her pal, I think fellow Corp members were suspicious but nobody reported. She completed service n continued working under the same boss, I don't know if she's still there now though.

Frankly, the MDCN as a regulatory body is not doing enough in regulating the medical practice in Nigeria. This guy has been renewing his licence annually for about a decade. There is an online platform, its barely fully functional. Do they act on information? No! That's aside the fact that in every suburb, there is at least 1 fake/quack doctor including the so-called foreign trained. If the MDCN could be half as effective as the pharmacists' body, the tale would have been different today.
Instead, it sits in a luxury complex making life difficult for its legitimate members with its exorbitant fees and bottlenecks. Imagine the confusion and embarassment those who went for nysc faced earlier this year because of its inadequacies amongst others. The mdcn should take a leaf from south africa's HPCSA or UK's GMC to learn effective regulation!

U know NCDC is basically public health and any science student can do masters in public health thus work with NCDC.
If it happens to be employed as a clinician, only his first day at work, they will fish him out. U can fake to be a medical doctor but u cant fake to be a clinician and u practice in a govt hospital.[/b]
