President Buhari will be departing Nigeria for South Africa on Saturday, June 13, to attend the 25th African Union Summit which is currently taking place in Johannesburg.

A statement issued on Friday in Abuja by the Special Adviser to the President on Media & Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, said Buhari will be undertaking his first continental assignment since taking office by chairing the meeting of the Peace and Security Committee of the AU summit, which will hold on Saturday, the day of his arrival.

He will also be holding a number of bilateral meetings that will consolidate his ongoing drive to secure Nigeria and the neighboring countries from Boko Haram.

The theme of this year's AU meeting is itself the issue of security. President Buhari will return to Nigeria on the morning of Tuesday, June 16.

He is really trying physically, its as if he is not affected by jet lag. He should appoint his ministers and i believe some of this travels could be done by his assigned minister. I would prefer he actually start working to achieve his campaign promises.

This is exactly like OBJ

OBJ's first term was all travel travel travel....leaving economic issues to Atiku, including PTDF....OBJ however remained Minister of Petroleum.

The success achieved were :

1. Nigeria became the big brother of Africa, settling coups, disputes and other security issues. I recall how there was a coup in Saotome-principe when their president came to Nigeria visiting. The next day, OBJ single handedly took the man back to his country and ordered the coup it's to step down immediately.

2. OBJ secured the trust of the international community and squashed our huge debt profile free of charge.

3. More foreign investment was brought in, especially in the area of GSM where Econet and MTN took over from Nitel and opened up our lines.

In all these....Atiku had so much time to seal ties with the PDP chairman, senate president, PTDF money, Halliburton bla bla.....mean.

OBJ even had to beg Atiku to permit him to run for second term, even promising to handover to him afterwards....Atiku accepted....

Ever since then....OBJ took charge of domestic affairs....disconnected Atiku from major govt. duties. Sacked the PDP chairman....destroyed the career of the senate president....created EFCC to torchlight what funds were stolen in bus absence.....mehn!!!! At the end of the second term, Atiku had lost out...he had to run out of PDP to set up AC with Tinubu.

In short, my point is this....that quiet "mere commissioner" as u guys wish to call Prof, may currently be more powerful and involved than you think. Or who do you think is currently acting as minister of the economy, finance, commerce, agriculture, bla bla bla.

I wish PMB and PYO the best results in the first term.
