The Difference Between Trials And Temptations by malvisguy212: 10:33pm On Jun 13, 2015
James 1:13-14,
Let no one say when he is tempted, "I am being tempted by God"; for God cannot be tempted by evil, and He Himself does not tempt anyone. But each one is tempted when he is carried away and enticed by his own lust.

There is a difference between a trial and a temptation, although both come from the same Greek word peirasmos. They are often used interchangeably, though. After all, temptation is a trial (of faith), and every trial is a temptation (to
grumble). When the word appears in the New Testament the context helps us to see which interpretation is meant. There are therefore differences and similarities between trials and temptations. Although we must not push the distinctions too far, here are examples of the differences:
1. In their ultimate origin. Temptations come from the flesh; trials are sent fromGod. He allowed Satan to test Job (Job 1:6-12). Therefore when we speak of "trial" we see God's fingerprints; when we see temptation, we see our own the devil's.
2. In their immediate origin. Temptation
comes from within; trials usually come
from outside us. Job suffered physically,
but inwardly at least at first there was
no apparent struggle.
3. In their moral relevance. Temptation,
when it is sexual in nature, has
considerable moral relevance, but a trial may be what I would want to call morally neutral, such as illness or losing one's keys.
4. With reference to what is tested. Temptation will usually attack a weak
spot; trials test our strength as well as
exposing a weakness we may have been
unaware of as with Job, who turned out
to be so self-righteous.
Any trial that God sends death of a
loved one or friend, financial reverse,
loss, illness, misunderstanding, losing
your keys, failure, disappointment,
betrayal, abuse, unemployment,
depression, accident, loneliness, missing a train or plane, rejection, not getting that important invitation, or any physical pain should be seen as having our Lord's handprints all over them.

You' re absolutely correct. God test while Satan tempt. Abraham was tested by God while Satan tempted Jesus. The bible actually calls satan a tempter. Christians needs self control, which is one of the fruit of the Holy spirit in order to over comes temptation. God bless you op.

Does God Tempts?

"And it came to pass after these things, that God did TEMPT Abraham." (GEN 22:1)

"Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God; for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man." (JAS 1:13)

I thought you are interlingent? Read the op very well: There is a difference between a trial and a temptation, although both come from the same Greek word peirasmos. They are often used INTERCHANGEABLE though. After all, temptation is a trial (of faith), and every trial is a temptation (to

The difference between trial and temptation is. temptation: "Do this
pleasant thing and do not let yourself be hindered by the fact that it is wrong," whereas trial says, "Do this good and
noble thing, and do not let yourself be hindered by the fact that it is painful".

Re: The Difference Between Trials And Temptations by Nobody: 7:30am On Jul 26, 2015
This sort of thread only breeds argument.
Not much value will it add.

* God tries. God does not tempt with evil or to do evil. ie something against Gods commandment.

* Satan tempts. Satan tempts to do evil or with evil.

When you work in a small organization, God may have a better option for you but he may want to see how you handle where you are at the moment hence he leaves you there for a bit. Test your patience, your resolute, your diligence etc.

On the other hand, satan makes you back bite, speak ill of people, stab your colleague in the back so that you can get a promotion because you are not patient and you are not in faith enough to see the bigger picture.

trial and temptation came from the same Greek word, the context help in determine the interpretation. The book of job imply it was a trial because job did NOT sin.

haha. Imagery thoughts

Questions for OP.

Whats the difference between a world where temptations and trials potentially manifests, to a world they dont. what do you expect from such a world where an unseen intelligent being, remotely manipulates and causes misfortunes and harm in the name of trials or temptations, to a world that such dont exist but things happening coincidentally, same category as winning a lottery.

Is such god a dick, playing and catching some fun with peoples life and fortunes in the name of trials and temptations. whats his goal for trails and temptations while his capable of changing the cause of all thing.

God is Highly Supreme. Read Isaiah 50:1-13, He made it so clear that His ways of reasoning is quite different from ours, so let's not in anyway attempt to reason the exact way of our God.

Do you know why?

It is not possible and can never be, Shalom

THE BIGGEST TRIAL TO CHRISTIANITY IN NIGERIA TODAY

The biggest trial to Christianity today in Nigeria is the systematic & deliberate killing of Christians by the so called "Fulani Herdsmen", which in truth are simply boko haram.

With the silence of so many preachers like Adeboye, Oyedepo & Kumuyi, shows that Christians have being tried by the devil as they are being betrayed by Adeboye, Oyedepo & Kumuyi.
