Reasons why sincere Christians should take the book known as the bible to church not a smartphone

1) Holding a bible shows one to be a Christian in public,it acts as an 'identity card' for every Christian. Ipads, smartphones does no such thing

2)Civilisation/technology has given us world where homosexuality is gradually being accepted, female reverends and gender changes all in contrast to biblical pronouncements. The church shouldn't follow the ways of this present world so closely

3)Christians lose the essence of the bible like the order of biblical books(after genesis is exodus.....3rd John then revelations) as a simple google search provides answer in comparison to scrolling round the bible and get fully acquitted with it

4) Ipads, smartphone substitutes acts as sources of distraction in churches with calls, pings, alerts and 'nairalanding' available at one's beck/call.

5) Ipads, smartphones serve one primary aim to most holders, showoff

6) 'battery low'

I think smart phone is not a substitute for the bible but it's smart to have the bible app. On sunday or anytime it's important to go with your bible because if you don't, it's like going the farm to work without tool. I'll share a short story below for others to learn from.

A friend called me from the police station that he needs my help to get him out of there on a saturday morning, i was surprised to hear that because i met him on his way to Vigil the other night.

On getting to the police station, I saw my friends name on the detention board. I went through all the police bail process to get him out of there , Thank God he was ok.

On our way home I asked him what happened, he said on his way back to the hostel from church the police stopped him and asked where he was coming from. He told them he was coming from church vigil and they requested to see his bible na so my friend carry him phone and tried to show dem the bible app but it didn't convince the police men. so they arrested him.

i just couldn't help but laugh because if he had his bible on him, it would have been a different story. So its important to go with your bible to church

Happy Sunday.

FTC... grin grin. On my birthday very cool, I use this opportunity to wish myself, the Excellency Gov Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos state happy birthday and my good friend Olaniran Jamiu Ajibola.

Shoki on my mind.

Did you get that line of reasoning from your religious book? undecided Do you know how many years it takes for a seed tree to grow before you can actually call it a TREE. Of what environmental benefits is cutting trees to make religious books that you guys hardly read/read to understand, while some use same religious books to commit atrocities ?

Stop it

@op ooya lets sit and analyze.

No 1. Your point is valid

NO.2 Please tell your church not to use microphone anymore. Here's a list of things your church should do
. Bring down their website
. Stop using phones
. Stop driving cars
. Stop printing fliers
anything technology or civilization had brought. Infact, if you really do want to follow this your principle, we should all read our bibles on stones and not papers.

No 3. .... ok I'll just stop here.

But here's my point. I am a Christian, a very strong believer. I agree ipads can be a source of distraction. So can a lady in mini skirt who seats beside me in a church.

We should all Embrace civilization and technology and use it to promote the gospel and not try to oppress it with what we think should be.

Some people have the most ridiculous ideas.

OP I agree with you.
Honestly, the paper bible feels more connected to God and holy. Whenever I use my ipad's bible, I still check other apps and even games I'm afraid-so I decided to stick with my paper bible. Less distraction and it's more connected to God.

You see all this pentecostal churches eee, na dem dey make churches this days look less attractive, not valued/regarded, go to their church na there #Godwin is the testimony song, na there pastor will be preaching with his Ipad, na there that comedians are invited to the pulpit to crack a joke, na there i first heard that MASTURBAT!ON is not a sin and also Abortion is not a sin, na there that all the worldly things are promoted and spiritual things declined, na there they tell you that if you are poor then you are not achild of God, na there a male visitor will come to church and a female church menber is aked to welcome him and vice versa (what are they thinking)...... ONLY GOD WILL SAVE and JUDGE US sha

I use an ipad for bible and taking notes; but I am uneasy about the undue attention my ipad gives to me. I do have illegible writing which is why I carry an ipad. I find it a lot easier to use ipad bible. E No b word of God?

Na lie. No friend called you.

If you had 'gone through the bailing process', police would have told you why they arrested him.
