Dis Guy: BAD BELLE!!!! Once Boma Iyaye is removed as chairman and Ikhana comes back. . . Sharks will begin to fire on all cylinders!!! I would be content with a mid-table finish BUT I am thinking that our cup run last season is beginning to look like a fluke. 3SC should be relegated. I would tip any of Warri Wolves, Enyimba, Kwara United or Pillars to win the league. |

Re: Nigerian League Fan Thread: Enter D Place N Know Every by honeric01(m): 10:24am On Nov 27, 2009 |
Nigerian league is one of the most unpredictable leagues in the whole world now, you can't really pin point who's going to win the league and i love that aspect of our league, it gives others hope of winning, who knew Bayelsa would come and win last season's league title? |
Re: Nigerian League Fan Thread: Enter D Place N Know Every by FBS: 11:18am On Nov 27, 2009 |
Do we have "stars" in the league? |
Re: Nigerian League Fan Thread: Enter D Place N Know Every by Nobody: 11:21am On Nov 27, 2009 |
Its unpredictability is what makes it unique. If i can recall, last season's winner was decided on the last day. |
Re: Nigerian League Fan Thread: Enter D Place N Know Every by Nobody: 11:24am On Nov 27, 2009 |

Re: Nigerian League Fan Thread: Enter D Place N Know Every by FBS: 11:34am On Nov 27, 2009 |
^^^Don't worry NL will try to correct that. A question for you though, do you watch and follow the matches? |
Re: Nigerian League Fan Thread: Enter D Place N Know Every by honeric01(m): 11:38am On Nov 27, 2009 |
Yes, we have stars, the likes of Nwana, Owoeri, Osanga, ikechukwu thank-god and host of others, infact all of the u-17 are either from the nigerian league or from various academy. |
Re: Nigerian League Fan Thread: Enter D Place N Know Every by Nobody: 11:46am On Nov 27, 2009 |
I'm currently in a location were its kinda hard 2 watch NPL,the major problem is 4rm d media,if more games can be televised everyweekend,it'll reduce our interest in other leagues and their camera is always 'bad',u knw wot i mean. |
Re: Nigerian League Fan Thread: Enter D Place N Know Every by FBS: 11:52am On Nov 27, 2009 |
daralex007:So you don't watch the matches and you expect to know the teams? I agree about the media/NFF/NPL not doing their job as expected but what about the internet? You could search if you wanted to. |
Re: Nigerian League Fan Thread: Enter D Place N Know Every by FBS: 11:54am On Nov 27, 2009 |
honeric01:Osanga did not impress me with the U-20 at all. Sorry. But yes I know that U-17 were purely home base minus John Felangha - reserve goal keeper. |
Re: Nigerian League Fan Thread: Enter D Place N Know Every by honeric01(m): 11:59am On Nov 27, 2009 |
FBS: He impressed alot of us when he's was under late coach yemi teller (2007 u-17) |

Re: Nigerian League Fan Thread: Enter D Place N Know Every by Nobody: 12:15pm On Nov 27, 2009 |
The PSL in S.A is not special 'coz it lacks talent but d media in S.A have helped project d image. |

Re: Nigerian League Fan Thread: Enter D Place N Know Every by Nobody: 1:35pm On Nov 27, 2009 |
All we need is: gud pitches,standard coverage,more sponsors,consistency on the path of d playaz(not jumpin 4rm Enyimba 2 Sunshine,Sunshine 2 Pillar within 2weeks) and commitment 4rm d officials. |
Re: Nigerian League Fan Thread: Enter D Place N Know Every by honeric01(m): 1:50pm On Nov 27, 2009 |

daralex007: Akwa united is from calabar though they are in div 1 now. Abuja stadium is not for any league club. Lagos is yet to have a team in the NPL, still in div 3 Bauchi's got a club, i am trying to remember the club's name. oh, i remember now, Wikki tourist is from Bauchi so what else bro? |
Re: Nigerian League Fan Thread: Enter D Place N Know Every by FBS: 2:33pm On Nov 27, 2009 |
honeric01:I think most people don't know much about our league (including myself ) and like the previous poster already pointed out that the media ain't helping matters. But hey, we can make a difference here on NL! |
Re: Nigerian League Fan Thread: Enter D Place N Know Every by Nobody: 2:43pm On Nov 27, 2009 |
@honeric,Pls let me correct an impression, its not dat I 8 naija league but it pains me 2 know dat most of wat we have are substandard except d talents. Point of correction Akwa utd is 4rm Uyo,Calabar used 2 have a team called Calabar rovers, only God knows where they are. |
Re: Nigerian League Fan Thread: Enter D Place N Know Every by honeric01(m): 2:45pm On Nov 27, 2009 |

Re: Nigerian League Fan Thread: Enter D Place N Know Every by honeric01(m): 2:50pm On Nov 27, 2009 |
daralex007: well, you are right, but then, things are changing gradually and fast, before our clubs wear tar-tared Jerseys, but now, things have change, before you know it, all the clubs will be able to boast of a standard stadium with good number of supporters. I don't really know if Calabar rovers is still a club in Nigeria, i am sensing they changed the name to Akwa united, not sure though, but if not, then both are them'll be fighting it out in div 1 and maybe whoever comes up to the NPL takes over the stadium again. i am going to try see if calabar rovers' still existing or they changed their name. |
Re: Nigerian League Fan Thread: Enter D Place N Know Every by honeric01(m): 2:52pm On Nov 27, 2009 |
Calabar rovers They stayed in the top flight for about a decade before being relegated to the lower leagues in 1993. During that time, they made the semifinals of the FA Cup twice but never won any major accolades. Their last game however was the controversial 13-0 loss to Akwa United on August 12, 2006. Already doomed to relegation to the Nigeria Amateur League, Rovers had three players sent off in the blowout which allowed Akwa to be promoted to the Premier League by a goal differential of one. Rovers on the other hand disbanded after the game. In May 2008, the Cross River State government announced plans to bring the team back from hiatus and with corporate sponsorship. With the help of United Cement Company (UNICEM), they entered into a player share agreement with newly promoted Dankat FC of Kano for 12 million naira, and will play in the Nigeria National League. Since the team also acquired Dankat's league slot, they will play in the mostly-northern division A. The team will be run for the next five seasons by UNICEM |

Re: Nigerian League Fan Thread: Enter D Place N Know Every by DisGuy: 3:39pm On Nov 27, 2009 |
the Clubs are exhibiting the same traits as the state and federal govt when it come to revenue and development They are basically relying solely on the money distributed by the NFF/NPL and their state government They accuse nigerians of going gong-ho over foreign clubs yet do absolutely nothing to promote their clubs and players Most of the players in the just concluded U20 and U17 play for local clubs yet none of them could 'sell' their players or even associate themselves with the on-going tournament, not a single interview about the players with coaches of club chairperson. the players are not even trained to face the media and still in 2009 no single functioning website for the NFF/NPL and clubs the npl budget millions for I.T though the clubs cant even be shown on TV being involved with some local charity or NGO, Xmas dinner with fans etc just to promote themselves |
