Another mentally person who was neglected by the system. Until Nigerians recognise that mental ill health is a fact. These occurrences will continue. Only yesterday, a mentally ill man murdered a mother and child in PH. Correct treatment of the illness could have saved lives.

Funmilayo Tijani, who allegedly stabbed her two-year-old son, Emmanuel, to death in the Sango Ota area of the state.

A four-year-old child, who is battling with cerebral palsy, which inhibits proper growth and movement of her body, has been abandoned at the Ifako-Ijaiye General Hospital, Lagos State.

It was learnt that her unidentified mother had sometime last year left the child with her grandmother, identified as Nike Owoyeni, and fled.

Our correspondent learnt that Owoyeni took the victim to the hospital around December, 2014, where she was reportedly treated and discharged the same day.

PUNCH Metro gathered that Owoyeni, after leaving the hospital, headed for the Ogba area of the state and dumped her granddaughter beside a parked truck.

This is suprising.

i watched a movie sometime ago when a boy was holding a knife over his mother's corpse but he only removed the knife from the mother chest. he wasn't the killer but because the knife was seen with him and he was traumatized he didn't alter a word when he was accused of killing his mother even when he was sentenced to death he still did not say anything cos he concluded he can't continue living without his mother and he loved the mother so much but the knife was in his hand nobody will believe he is innocent.

what if she met the boy that way and thought she can rescue him? did they interview her at all or the police just jump to conclusion cos she held the knife?
am not saying she is innocent but police should do their job and stop jumping to conclusion.
