[b]AN ELUSION OVER THE JAMB 2015

Over the years our country, Nigeria has introduced to us an examination to usher the citizens all over the country into the tertiary institution through the body called ‘Jamb’. It was being written using the manual method (writing with paper and pen), before a new rebirth i.e technology. Now 2015, has ushered in the E-method (electronic method or computer-base). Being blessed with the new revolution, all candidate are going to be made to write the examination using the computer, thanks to globalization which has made that to be possible.

This method is to reduced the rate of examination malpractice so has to enable a due process to be taken. Last year, over millions of candidate flooding around the country who sat for the examination, though it was divided into two ways i.e the manual method and electronic method. Recorded a huge failure, while some candidates results were being withheld. The question goes thus, how will the examination look like?. This questions is widely ringing in the minds of the candidates who are bound to write the 2015 examination. Will it truly reduce the high rate of examination malpractice or create a gate way to more massive failure?. The introduction to this method of writing totally means, MR OYO(on you own). This will totally create a spirit of being in one self and focusing on one’s work.

A question might be ushered in;’ will the systems be manipulated such that, a candidate who is advanced in operating the system will not sought for a way to get the answers to the question according to his or her paper type?’. The answer in a simple term is; “Before such method is being introduced an authentic preparation has been made for that. The body(Jamb) knows what is invoke and the know what candidates can do, so there is a possibility of them manipulating those systems that will be used.” Definitely, jamb next year is going to be truly brain-storming. Some many questions are being asked on how they will go about it. ‘will the jamb be a one day exams or will it take weeks for it to be through?’. This question is asked because it is very impossible for the systems to be sufficient to all candidate in a day. We all know our country very well and that times the new revolution we bring up is something that will cost a lot on our government as a whole. And that will take a week as it will be divided into different batch. A center contains over thousands or close to thousands of people and that will not be enough. Besides, a system cannot be positioned in a room that is not conducive enough. This will lead to a long process of writing this examination.

Talking about massive failure; will this bring about massive pass? No matter how an examination is being placed, there must always be a massive record of failures. The university ‘herself’ cannot contain a large number of student per faculty, so no matter what, failure will still be on a go. A faculty, has a durable number of student that will be needed. So passing is by luck and a candidate failing doesn’t mean, he or she never gave their best but the problem is the number of student the need to sit in for the aptitude test and even at that, failure is still recorded, due to the required amount of student each faculty will need. There is a possibility of having a massive pass in the forth coming exams also. That only if one thinks optimistically and not pessimistically. There is bound to be failures and passes in any examination for that whats makes an examination. Though to many it is a flood gate for massive pass as they keep saying that last year computer-base was more better than the paper and pencil. But 2015 might differ from that.

Another question goes thus, will it stop examination malpractice?. The answer is capital ‘No’. No matter how tight the security might be, examination malpractice will still be on a go. So far corruption hasn’t ceased yet, the process will still be on the go as far as our government and the world is concerned. The invigilators are the worst hypocrite, for the could be bribed to let things happen.

The only eye opener, is to put in our very best in our study so as to be confident in what ever we take up as an answer. When once a candidate who is fully prepared for the forth coming exams sits to write, no matter the time limit given, before the system flips up to the next question the candidate will be able to give an accurate answer to the question.
Because he or she knows the answers already. Nothing worth while, nothing good comes easy and we as mortals need to strive harder to achieve that which is our goal.

To conclude; if one fails to plan, he/she plans to fail. Burning of fuel and candle stick is the only miracle for the massive pass and optimist ism. 2015 jamb is just a beginning of a new revolution.
