Osun Doctors Calls For Aregbesola's Resignation. by pheyikemi: 9:35am On Jun 19, 2015
Resident doctors at the Ladoke Akintola
University of Technology Teaching Hospital,
Osogbo, on Thursday staged a fresh protest in
Osogbo, Osun State capital, to register their
anger over the non-payment of their salaries for
the past eight months.
The doctors asked Governor Rauf Aregbesola to
resign from office if he failed to pay them by the
end of June which he promised.
The doctors, who were led the their President,
Dr. Olalekan Ajayi, had gathered at the
premises of the hospital from where they
trooped out to the streets singing anti-
government songs.
Armed with placards, with various inscriptions
like: “Even Slaves Deserve to be Fed; 230 Days
of Unpaid Salaries and Ogbeni, Pay our
Salaries,” the doctors caused traffic snarl at
Station Road.
Members of the Association of Resident Doctors
had, on May 12, staged a similar protest and
marched to the House of Assembly where they
dropped their protest letter.
Speaking in an interview with journalists at the
end of the protest, ARD president said despite
being owed eight months, doctors were not on
strike but explained that they could not work
because of the strike embarked upon by other
categories of workers in the hospital.
He said, “We have not been paid for the past
eight months. And since then, we have been
lobbying and appealing to the government to
help but till date we have not been paid.
“It has not only affected us as humans, it has
affected our families and also our patients. We
are telling the government of Ogbeni Rauf
Aregbesola to do the needful.
“This is economic genocide in our state. It is not
compatible with life. For these eight months, we
have tried to maintain peace and industrial
harmony. There is no official announcement that
we are on strike but we can’t work.
“The hospital is down, everybody is down and
there is no way we can actually work as
professionals.”
Ajayi stated that patients were dying because of
the financial crisis which he said had brought
every sector of the state down.
The doctors said salary payment should be a
priority for any government sensitive to the
needs of the people.
They called on President Muhammadu Buhari to
help Osun and other states out of the financial
crisis which they said was worse than the
problem of insecurity.

You see a typical osunite still sentimental after everything Aregbesola have done to them.

let me ask you so if omisore taking over will solve this problem you'll rather die of hunger than to allow it happen.

smh that's why i have less pity on them because they are too shameless and sentimental.
these hungry guys will vote for Aregbesola again if third tenor is allowed.

The Governor of the state of osun, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola has urged all the striking workers in the state to use this fasting period to pray for the continued progress the state is enjoying. The Governor who received eulogies and commendations from the large section of the protesting Doctors while majestically coming down from the state's Helicopter, which he described as the state's most prized asset, later went and addressed them at Idi-seke/Fagbewesa junction in osogbo, venue of the protest. He enjoined the Doctors to uphold and bond themselves to the hippocratic oath they have sworn to and go back to work so as to save lives. He also reiterated the state's decision to go back to more effective and orthodox method of treatment even as he was not shy to encourage the Doctors to start considering his earlier advice of looking for their ways out of state owned hospitals as the government will no longer cater for them when the state's orthodox treatment centre is finally launched.
However, all the medical students in the state's owned institution, LAUTECH, out of whom many have spent 8 to 9 years due to incessant strike actions experienced at the medical college have been asked to remain diligent in their studies and pray for the prosperity of the state.
President of Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) Osun chapter, Dr. Kalejaiye, while reacting to the Governor's address on one the privately owned radio stations that are presently working in the state, thanked Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola for his contributions to the present welfares of the civil servants in the state, he also apologised of on behalf of few erring members of the association calling for the Governor's relinquishment, describing them as saboteurs to the good governance the state is enjoying. He prayed that God shall run Ogbeni's business just as he has prudently run the state.
Meanwhile, all the civil servants in the state are in the celebration mood following the state government's promise to pay their salaries by the end of the month, even as many of them, both muslims and christians, in the state are looking unto Allah in strict adherence to APC's official statement asking them to look unto Allah.
Below are the pictures taken as the workers were celebrating the promise of the salary payment by the end of the month.
