Imo poly expels 389 students over exam,
admission fraud

Authorities of Imo State Polytechnic, yesterday said
it has expelled no fewer than 389 students of the
institution following their alleged involvement in
examination and admission racketeering.
Rector of the institution, Rev. Fr. Wence Madu,
who made this known while addressing newsmen,
said the students were expelled because they had
gained admission into the institution through
fraudulent means.
The rector said measures had been put in place to
fish out those who entered the institution through
the back door, stressing that any student affected
would be shown the way out.
Madu, who also affirmed the institution's zero
tolerance for examination malpractice, campus
cultism and other vices, insisted that the
management was poised to re-position the
institution in order to boost its academic efficiency.
He declared that the era of bribery-for-admission
and other related illicit practices had ended in the
institution, urging students to concentrate on their
studies to earn their scores by merit rather than by
hook and crook.
The cleric, who pledged that only intending
students, who merited admission would be
admitted into the institution, cautioned those
involved in admission racketeering to desist and
keep away from the school or be ready to face the
wrath of the law if caught.
