Saturday, June 20 World Refugee Day 2015 . Pause and ponder for a moment about the harrowing nightmares of thousands of the refugees of Boko Haram conflict in Nigeria and millions of other refugees in other war-torn countries in the world. I know what if feels to be one of them since I was a refugee child during the Nigerian civil war and my beloved mother of blessed memory Gladys Eke lost three of her children in refugees camp in Biafra. The war claimed more than 1 million lives in less than three years and majority of the casualties were innocent children in Biafra. Nigeria lost about 50, 000 soldiers and Biafra lost about 25, 000 soldiers. Today, I make this post in memory of the thousands of refugees who died in Biafra and pray for the survival of millions of refugees in the world today.

Nigerians cannot be refugees in their own country, rather they are internally displaced persons (IDP). May God almighty ease the pains of Nigerians wherever they are |

ECOTERRORS: In Abia State for example, the report states that it has not paid the salaries of workers at the State teaching hospital for nine months. The state has also not paid workers of the Hospital Management Board for eight months; Abia State Universal Basic Education Board, six months; Abia State Polytechnic, five months; local government workers, four months; and teachers, three months’ salary arrears. Enugu may have paid the salaries of civil servants till date, but parastatals are owed 12 months’ salaries and pension and gratuity payments haven’t been issued since 2010. For other States, the picture is a sorry one. Osun, on average, owes six months’ in salary and pension payments; Plateau, six months in salaries and seven months in pension entitlements; Benue, five months of salaries and four months of pension benefits; Kogi, four months in arrears of pension and salary payments; and Oyo, which owes three months in salaries and between five and 11 months of pension payments. 23 states owing workers, says Labour - The Guardian www.ngrguardiannews.com › News › National The Guardian 14 hours ago - A not pleasant disclosure yesterday came from the Nigerian Labour ... States which are likely to owe salaries and pension of workers well into ... 22 state governors owing workers salaries - The Nation The report of the NLC Task Force on employees salary arrears across the country revealed that the debtor States include Abia, Akwa Ibom, Bauchi, Benue, Cross River, Ekiti, Imo, Jigawa, Kano, Katsina, Kogi. Ogun, Ondo, Osun, Oyo, Plateau, Rivers and Zamfara which owe their employees salary arrears of at least six months. http://www.ngrguardiannews.com/2015/06/23-states-owing-workers-says-labour/ |

Does President Muhammadu Buhari know that today is World Refugees Day? And how many Nigerian news media channels are addressing the humanitarian emergencies of Nigerian refugees today? When you read the New York Times, Washington Post, Economist and other leading international newspapers, Nigerian newspapers in print and on the internet look backward and underdeveloped in editorial and news reports and engagement in global issues. Today is World Refugees Day and the most in-depth analysis of the global crisis are the reports on my Nigerians Report Online and Nigerian Times blogs. The Nigerian government seems to have forgotten that we have thousands of Nigerian refugees in Chad, Niger and Cameroon and the humanitarian emergency is worse than the unpaid salaries of government workers making headlines of news media channels in Nigeria. |
