You can give it a shot! I think it's profitable judging from the way we buy it almost every week because there's no native soup we make that we don't include it. Sometimes we buy it from the open market and most times we buy these packaged ones from the supermarket or private suppliers;so I think it's profitable.

Do U have NAFDAC registration number, pls start small go to hotels tell dem what u have once u start big u are easily identified by the law. Means various tax would apply.

No chemical was used, instead it was dried using a gas powered oven. hence the reason for the cute appearance.

The ideal of exportation is quite good but getting the potential buyer is a major challenge. The branding and packaging has to be more explained than that when exporting. At least you can start on a mini export of 30kg and above to a countries where their custom policy allow importation of foreign foods and beverages.You can add me on whatsapp let see how can work together.

you need some marketing grooming. How can you post such a biz with huge potentials without putting up your contact...phone control nos especially. Some reasonable peeps here don't stay around your hood....including those outside the country. Many could be interested in eating YOUR fish bro...just do the needful!

Here's my humble suggestion based on my very little experience.

Make it heavily salted then advice buyers to soak before using to prepare meals. This would probably preserve for a longer time as fishes are quite very perishable.

I've bought a few outside the shores. And this was how it was being sold.

Bros you are asking the wrong question. We all know that people eat fish in Nigeria. Millions of people do. The question you should be asking is "how do I sell to these millions of people" ? "How can I sell my fish to as many people that eat fish or that buy fish in Nigeria"? . The key word to note here is "sell". That is it bro. You shouldn't be asking wether a business is profitable or not. Profitability is dependent on marketability. There are no laid down rules. Do you have the product? How can you SELL it to a large number of people at a profit? The man who has the answer to the latter is the man who makes the money. To make it clearer to you, if I give you 10 million loaves of bread and ask you to sell them, if you manage to sell only 2 out of the whole stock, then you would have failed to make money. What does Dangote do? He sells cement, and noodles and the rest to close to a hundred and seventy million people. He is currently the richest man in Africa. What does Femi Otedola do? He imports and SELLS diesel to the whole of Nigeria. He is amongst the richest men in the country. What is the difference between Otedola and the guy who sells same product in the black market? The black market guy doesn't sell to the whole of Nigeria. Let me stop here. I'm sure you get the point. So bottomline, go out there and SELL SELL SELL! your fish to as many people as possible . Start from your vicinity, move on to your state, take over Nigeria, exhaust Africa. The world is your oyster my friend. Goodluck!

minimal salting helps to stun the fish during evisceration. it is not advisable to salt heavily due to health hazards as well as pushing away HBP stroke as well as old patients out of your customer base. reach us on 09093267329

You mean people eat dry fish without cooing it? Wow. Maybe oven dried but I prefer smoked fish to dried fish because of the cooking process involved.
During my undergrad, the agric department had solar dryers with dried smelly fish in them. That put me off dried fish till now.

I can say there is a good demand for it in lagos. Not too common in Ibadan, if you can work hard you will get your customers. It is very profitable, just play your role to get your profit

bros it's a good business, im into it, in fact I smoke and sell. as for my end here, the demand is always more than what I can supply, BT for u to make a good sale, ur fish must be big, small fish does nt sell that much.

Op it is a good business.... Some people tho preferred d smoked one(locally processed one) to d one u do in d oven....and concerning d salting, u don't over salt d smoked fish oo cos like what barcaboi said, some people love to eat it straight away without cooking. So oversalting is out of it..I also deal with smoking fish for people so they can sell them. It is quite lucrative.
