Sergio Ramos is not the only Bernabeu star on Manchester United’s hit-list as they prepare a robust response to Real Madrid’s bid to sign David de Gea.

Real are expected to make a first formal offer for De Gea this week following months of speculation over his return to Spain, four years after moving to Old Trafford from Atletico Madrid.

And United are determined to make it as difficult as possible for the Spanish giants to get their man by mounting what club insiders have described as ‘an aggressive counter’.

It will begin with demands for a transfer fee in excess of £25million and has already extended to interest in Ramos.
