There are loads of date in Lagos crying out to be booked. All you have to do is schedule one first from the ones available, then after that hit up the embassy and request for an emergency appointment cos if your still waiting for a suitable date to come up, you might keep on chilling till infinity- you know this na peak period. If you already done this on the other hand, you may step up your chances by repeating your emails to them. They might just get tired of seeing them and eventually compelled to issue you a date, lol. All the best, Edirin. |

Tochuksj, go with God's favour and return with testimonies for He will go before and after you if you believe. Our goodwill are with you and remember - dress smart, be articulate, always maintain eye contact, be confident and courteous in every manner. By now you should be well prepared so think less of the interview tonight cos much thinking heightens anxiety. Just stay relaxed and focused. It is well, success to you man! |

@house pls I need an answer to this, I was at Abuja embassy yestarday and after been interviewed I was given the visa then later before I leave they called me back and said they will need to do some check up or so and they gave me a latter saying additional administrative processing is required no further action on your part necessary, consular section will contact you when the case is ready, And o don't know what to do now if I should wait for them to call me cuz that what the lady told me that they will call me,so should I just wait for the call |
Re: General U.S.A (student) Visa Enquiries by naggy: 8:09am On Dec 16, 2010 |
kwizzy212, I have taken much time to research about this administrative processing and what it's really all about. To my finding although it differs from individual cases, you were probably placed in the review maybe their system detected a close match in your name with some other inadmissible persons so they need to conduct extra checks from Washington to clear your name before they can confidently issue the visa. In most cases when an individual is put through this process, the embassy and the applicant has little or no powers at all and sometimes even restricted to make inquiries into the case until it has been cleared from DC. So right now all you have to do is PRAY VERY HARD so it is finished before your school resumes (cos in some cases it could take much time) and let everything turn out in your favour. Just be calm, it is well my broda and friend! |

@house, i just came out frm d u.s embassy here in abuja, they checked my credentials and asked me wat i've been doing since 2005, i told him i was schooling, he asked me to get my transcripts, i told him that my school is on strike, he asked me to go back and get the transcript, he gave me a form where transcript was checked as a missing document. That without it i wont have visa. My skul resumes on 5th jan 2011, guys advice me |
Re: General U.S.A (student) Visa Enquiries by kwizzy212: 10:48am On Dec 16, 2010 |
But how long this administrative thing takes?? |
Re: General U.S.A (student) Visa Enquiries by seedord247(m): 11:59am On Dec 16, 2010 |
@kwizzy Did the VO collect any of your document (i.e i-20, staty,,toefl,) down for verification except your passport? if so then you need to fast and pray hard then if not just look for nearest B.parlour and take 3 odekun and isiewu and sleep cus i know this is just a mere issue but i will still advice to try and be calling every hour and more also mail them. http://travel.state.gov/visa/a_zindex/a_zindex_4353.html Click on that link and go through it, i hope it help, but guy don'try and get yourself stuck in the heart bcus i know God has done it for you only a matter of time like naggy said it is well my broda. |
Re: General U.S.A (student) Visa Enquiries by seedord247(m): 12:07pm On Dec 16, 2010 |
@James i don't think the house understand your question, i will need you to explain more clearly. |
Re: General U.S.A (student) Visa Enquiries by teebaba4: 12:07pm On Dec 16, 2010 |
james2020: @james2020 , did you finished ur undergraduate by 2005 or ur ssce ? well you should have just told the VO that ur school doesn't issue transcripts to individuals except requested by organisations and they send it directly to them , could you post your experience with the VO, it would help in giving you exactly what the house feels about your issue ! |
Re: General U.S.A (student) Visa Enquiries by naggy: 1:44pm On Dec 16, 2010 |
kwizzy212, far as I know, administrative review takes a hell lot of time. I've heard of cases where it took several months but do not be afraid since the lady assured she'll endeavour to have your case expediated. Moreover I'm sure as a student they'll work against the clock so it won't impede your travel plans if it's close enough. Seedord just hinted on my greatest concern which has to do with the documents that were taken from you. If it's only your passport and/or I-20 then know you already have your visa- just chill and make merriment but on the other hand if bank statements were taken then they might subject it to a verification so all you have to do at this point is PRAY EXTREMELY HARD. There's nothing God can't do, |
Re: General U.S.A (student) Visa Enquiries by naggy: 2:50pm On Dec 16, 2010 |
James2020, no one understands this thing you posted. It makes no sense just hit the nail on the head- were you issued a visa or not? They asked u to get your transcript means nothing, like when you were told that, did they hold back your passport and asked u to return later with your transcript or was all your documents returned to you? I'm just saying cos refusals can take any disguise. |
Re: General U.S.A (student) Visa Enquiries by kwizzy212: 3:06pm On Dec 16, 2010 |
Naggy and seedord, My bank statement was collected from me cuz it's like now they collect all the bank statements cuz she placed it on other bank statement right before she even started interview me, And then when we were down she retruned everything only my passport ad the statement and she gave me the tag that I should go and collect my visa to one address like that on friday then b4 later she called me when I was at the door about to go out and said my sorry pls ther need to be an administrative processing stuff and said I should mail my school and let them know. Ad I was like noooo whyyy oooooo she sorry that it's what she is seen here that they will have to do it but she is afraid it wil take time but it might take time that maybe it's gonna be next section and I was like why again that tooo far she then said don't worry I will try to make it happen as soon as possible and then have me a later that they will call me soon, so what you guys think |

Re: General U.S.A (student) Visa Enquiries by edostate: 3:17pm On Dec 16, 2010 |
Coming to the US is not difficult if you have what it takes, you have to be truthful and provide all the required documents, but the most important thing is for you to be compose, cos if you're not, you have failed already. Mine was for a program here in the US, I got it with all the required document, but what crowned it all was my confident, i wasn't moved at all, i knew what i wanted and i went all out for it, though my visa was only for three months, I have been here for over three years now and i can tell you, its not too easy but its fun. You have almost everything but understand that you pay for it all, my rent for a month is enough to pay for a three bedroom apartment for a year in Naija, i am not including the cars insurance, light, water, cell, cable, internet, heat and all other bills. Yes its true you make money, but if one is not careful, one will spend the money paying all kinds of bills. Thank God i am a resident and about to be a citizen,(thank God for that) if not, it would've been much more difficult, you cant rent your own house, cant find job unless you're willing to be used by Nigerians here, making you work for 16hrs daily and pay you between $300-$500 bi-weekly. They will use you and make you feel they are helping you, (but somehow they are cos you can't find job without your papers.) However, if they find another Nigerian who need a job, they will reduce your pay and make you leave cos the other naija guy will be willing to take half of what they pay you, it is crazy. Please dont let me discourage you cos if i was discouraged, i wouldn't be where i am today, so go for it and if anyone need my help, feel free to ask me. I have been helping alot of people book their visa appointment without asking them for nothing, i posted my old email addrress (christopherenab@yahoo.com) but just changed it to mchat84@yahoo.com cos of spam, so feel free to let me know what i can do to help, and read my lips, i do not ask for a dine from anyone, all i ask is for you to help others who are in need, simple. Wishing you all a very happy New Year. ( Someone tried to chat with me and all i ask was for him to tell me how he got my email, do you know the guy refused and made it look like something was wrong cos i said i want to help those who need my help, wao! This is why people like us who can help don't. Anyway, such is life. |
Re: General U.S.A (student) Visa Enquiries by justwonder: 3:56pm On Dec 16, 2010 |
@james2020,from my personal experience i had a certain document which was problematic and was given 'a form' with that document checked, pending when i solve that issue, visa would be granted(after a full interview had been done). So i am assuming*hoping* your interview went well pending the resolution of your transcript or else you would have been told earlier of visa denial,so please get your transcript to the embassy in good time.I am assuming you went to a post-secondary school during that time frame.? GOOD LUCK BRO! P.S details would be nice |

kwizzy212:@kwizzy212 , I have heard about this last week and i hinted it to the house in a post, the guy was later refused sighting to him that the staty was fake. I think there is a criteria to suspecting fake statement of accounts, which of the bank is the statements from? I pray they give you the green light soon sha ! |

@kwizzy212 Administrative processing is a pain in d ass.i waited for 64 long days before my AP was processed. You shouldn't b worried if all ur documents r legit.98% of all persons dat go tru this process gat his/her visas, although the duration of the AP might vary individually. With God BY UR Side u should b fine. |
Re: General U.S.A (student) Visa Enquiries by naggy: 5:33pm On Dec 16, 2010 |
Kwizzy, according to what was stated on their website, the typical time for the administrative processing to be conducted is 60 days. Then your passport was returned probably because that is not what they want to verify, like there's no problem with it. They only take the document they feel the need to verify and in your case it's the statement they wanted. I'm praying real hard for you, it is well! |
Re: General U.S.A (student) Visa Enquiries by teebaba4: 6:17pm On Dec 16, 2010 |

Re: General U.S.A (student) Visa Enquiries by nethacker(m): 6:20pm On Dec 16, 2010 |
seeing some new developments about d embassy here, hmm,i must say i commend all of u dat hv shared ur experience here. With the influx of students visa request flowing thru d consulars table, washington DC was worried so a plan was devised to checkmate pple whose intention won't be genuine by subjecting them to additional verification(staty n transcripts will be confirmed).pls i'll like to warn all of u not to talk abt oluwole staty here cos those pple read this thread here on NL jst my 2 cents |
Re: General U.S.A (student) Visa Enquiries by teebaba4: 6:27pm On Dec 16, 2010 |
well, i think this is done at random or they pick you for further processing, maybe from your conversation with the VO that was contradicting ! |
