@nethacker,

Thanks for your response. Femilangy once said the same and I agree completely with you guys. However, there is a an important question which you omit. and this is the question again ;does the GMAT score really matter to the consular? does a very high score increase my chance? does a low score reduce it at the consular?

I am asking the question to determine how hard I should prepare for the test. If the score doesn't matter to the consular, honestly I wouldn't want to stress myself too much about the test. I just wish to write it, put in my best and leave the center. I have a tight schedule that would not allow me to burn midnight oil for any exam at the moment.

Nethacker's response

Although your score doesnt matter to the consular but which ever way u wanna look at it, i will advise u to prepare hard for it n get high scores cos that can help u wen u get to school, perhaps wen u try to get some kinda assistantship.

@ Nethacker

Thanks so much. In fact, I have started reading for the exam now.

@Kenzema,

I congratulate you on your visa. As regards your girl, I feel so sorry about her. From the experiences of people I know, she only stands a good chance if you are going through lottery. But with F-1 visa, you might end up forgetting her against your wish. Since the day I started applying to graduate schools in U.S, I stopped toasting girls. And its because of a thing like this. I just hate to see a lady cry when I'm happy.

Generally, I'm enjoying this thread. Its getting more interesting. Nethacker, Femilangi, I feel you guys! Keep it up!

My brother I have not written any of those exams yet, I was just doing a general assesment of all the schools and what they would require plus know what scores in those tests would give me a better shot at getting a graduate assistanship or research assistantship. I want to do an Msc in pet engineering but that would be next year, I just wanted to arm myself with all the facts then I can study like crazy for the exams, I especially penciled out UT at austin, Texas A&M and colorado school of mines. The later two gave me albeit positive replies with what GRE scores can get me, but that UT at austin was a really good choice and top of my list. Anyway I was under the impression that Nigerians had to write TOEFL, GMAT never even crossed my mind.
Oh and by the way have you got any materials for these exams?

In this recession? U must be kidding me.Dunno whether colleges in the East Coast has that kinda Arab money but here nobody give nobody naddar.Scholarships and grants shouldn't be your priority right now, just concentrate on getting a good grade in both TOEFL and GMAT exams before thinking about sponsor or scholarship. Most colleges gives out tuition waiver for exceptionally brillant students after their first semester in school.But just be ready to pay for your first semester cos relying on scholarship or grants as a first term freshman is a mirage in this recession.
Just my 2 cents.

Am doing a graduate course an MSC in Engineering Management at Cockrell School of Engineering,the university of Texas at Austin. Who told u its only first class students they accepted for admission? Where did u got that info?
In my school, a grad international student must have a GPA 3.0 and must have had a total of 2yrs work experience before applying.
Well, write your TOEFL/GRE as best as possible.
Best of luck in all your endeavours.

Hello people, I would love to hear your opinions about a situation regarding my planned US student visa application.

am applying for US student visa for an MBA program. Sponsorship is by an approved loan from a US lender linked with the school. So, i guess i don't have to proof personal funds (what do u think?).

my spouse is a permanent resident and my child, a US citizen. How do u good people think i can prove to the visa officer i don't have immigration intentions and i plan to come back to Naija?

by the way, i have a valid multiple entry visitors visa that I've used several times.
