Social isolation? If I walk up to you and ask
you, Hey, define social isolation in two
sentences, What would be your response and
how will you define it?
Well, last week or thereabout, I saw a
programme where the Anchors emphasized a
lot on Loneliness. That very day, I got inspired
to write this article but many things occupied
me. But today, i was so bored and the topic
came to my head again.
Now, what is Social Isolation? As it self
implies "Isolated Socially" But in a concrete
definition, it refers to a complete or an almost
complete lack of contact with people and
society for members of a social species. It is
however not "so" the same as loneliness
rooted in humans.
Social isolation is not limited to anyone, it
affects both the young and old. It leads to
depression and depression to various
diseases.
According to the Tv programme I saw, they
statistied some facts which will be elucidated
below.
In 1985, most people, especially women,
walked in three, but now the statistical fact
has drastically fallen to two.
You might have wandered in thoughts, how
does this enhance or cause Social isolation?
You probably thought! Friends and people who
walk in three(s) tend to share more secrets
together, hang out more and do many other
things together which ofcourse conquers
boredom unlike the other party who walk in
two(s).
Social isolation is also a cause and a
symptom of emotional or psychological
challenges. As a cause, the perceived inability
to interact with the world and others can
create an escalating pattern of these
challenges. As a symptom, the periods of
isolation can be chronic or episodic,
depending upon any cyclical changes in mood,
especially in the case of clinical depression,
and possibly bipolar disorders.
Isolation increases the feelings of loneliness
and depression, fear of other people, or even
create a more negative self-image. It can also
create a negative impression that there is a
whole world going on that they are not or
unable to be a part of. So bad!
How it threatens our health.
- Social Isolation can cause fatigue(extreme
tiredness)
- Social Isolation can also give this Feeling of
being worthless and helpless
- It can also make you consume less food
that's not eating as necessary.
- It can affect our sleeping pattern.
- It can cause Agitation and anxiety.
- It can also hinder our ability to think,
concentrate, and make decisions
- And lastly it can lead to thoughts of death or
suicide.
As you have read, Social isolation can be so
bad. It is not a disease but it can lead to
diseases.
You know anyone who is socially isolated?
that is always bored? Do the below to help
him/her!
Some suggestions:
- Don’t text. Call the individual often!
- Set up something low-key, like a walk
together.
- Don’t diminish what the lonely person is
going through, share things with him/her, like
secrets, gist, food and drinks and whatever you
think is palatable.
- Do your best in motivating and making him/
her happy always.
You?
And, are you the one this article was written
for?. Make yourself happy often. Like http://facebook.com/tbtdaily , i do some motivation
there.
