Are you a single youth or related to any youth? Do you think youth empowerment is necessary? Do you think youth empowerment is of many types? Generally, some people understand youth
empowerment as the means through which the youth are encouraged financially or through skill acquisition. Standard youth
empowerment is far more than that.

Classifications of Youth Empowerment

The word, empowerment, is used on everyday life of people. Youth empowerment is beyond these two. In this write-up, youth
empowerment is grouped into five: financial youth empowerment, skills acquisition
youth empowerment, academic youth empowerment, moral youth empowerment,
and Agricultural youth empowerment. They
are classified for readers to have more
understanding
about youth empowerment.

Financial youth empowerment: This
segment of youth empowerment is likely to be the most popular. All and Sundry know more on this category. It is the type that the youth is offered some cash
to start-up a business or to solve his or her problems. Example of this type of youth empowering organization obtainable in Nigeria is YouWIN. What is YouWIN? YouWIN stands for Youth
Enterprise with Innovative program. It is a youth empowerment competition
mapped out by the Federal Republic of Nigeria to support the youths financially in other to achieve their goals in life. It is
an innovative business plan competition aimed at job creation by encouraging and supporting aspiring entrepreneurial youths in Nigeria to develop and execute
business ideas. This has sent
unemployment among some Nigerian graduates to exile to some extent. In fact, this has transformed some of their
lives from rags to riches. This program has put smile on the faces of many Nigerian youths as many are able to make things up with the help offered by this organization. There are many
organizations that empower the youths of their nations financially. Also, individuals from many communities’ offer financial empowerment to members of their communities. Example,
when a rich man from a community calls for youths meeting and offer some money to them to go and start businesses when the youths do not have what they do for living. The
example portrays youth empowerment by individual of a particular community.

Goldmine Liberty Centre (GLC): is a mentoring center for empowerment, with special focus on empowering aspiring entrepreneurs who are passionately driven by the desire to build world class businesses, thus helping them unleash their potentials and actualize their visions.
Mission: Raising and empowering over 1,000,000 entrepreneurs that will compete globally, building successful world class businesses.

Education is very important in every nation as it cannot be joked with in anyway. Nations that still offer lip services to educational youth empowerment should
put stop to that.

Academic/Educational youth
empowerment:
What per cent of Africans are educated? The proportion of educated people in Africa is less because many who are willing to go to school are not empowered. Some crimes committed in many African nations are by the illiterates. This bad behavior spoils the image of many nations.
Education is vital for poverty reduction and National building.

Educational youth empowerment involves giving academic support to the youths of all nations.
These supports can both be developed by the government and the individuals.
It can take the form of Scholarships and issuing of cheques to the youths who
are willing to study. Does Nigeria
government sponsor education sector very well? Does the Federal government of Nigeria empower the youths through education? The Association Staff Union
of Universities of Nigeria, ASUU, went on strike in July 1, 2013, which lasted for months. What per cent of public universities in Nigeria are under ASUU?

This organization consists of more than 80% of all the public universities in Nigeria. What is the cause of ASUU strike? ASUU went on strike because the federal government of this country didn't
not want to sponsor university
education sector well. This implies that the government of this country does not empower the youths of this nation
educationally. ASUU reached agreement with the government of Federal Republic of Nigeria in 2009, which is based on
equipping and updating Nigerian
universities. The agreement had not been implemented since then, and that brought about the strike.

Moral Youth Empowerment: Some of the misbehavior among the youths is because they lack this aspect of empowerment. We hit below the belt because this part of empowerment lacks
development. The youth of today do not respect their elders. Their statement is always "he does not feed me, so I can talk to him anyway I wish". Many female
youths indulge in bad act that leads to termination of the unborn every day.
This is because they lack moral
empowerment from home and
individuals. How can we succeed when we terminate the unborn babies who are to form the next generation?

Without this aspect of youth
empowerment, securing future
prosperity of many nations will be like a dream without accomplishment. The youths are to be empowered morally in
their families, schools and also in many community gatherings.
There is high moral decline in United State of America today because of poor moral youth empowerment in the country.

Because of the poor moral decline, what is supposed to be seen as evil are being taken as normal way of life. Today in United States,
the number of youth found in churches is seriously decreasing on daily basis. Some of the youths say that going to church is outdated and engage in sex day in day out at cheap price.

Agricultural youth empowerment involves encouraging the youths to acquire agricultural skills. Man cannot do without agriculture.
Source: Agricultural Youth Empowerment

Agricultural Youth Empowerment:
Nations are still in existence because there is availability of foods. Remove food from the life of a man, and he will appear like a dry tree that has all its roots cut off. Youth Initiative for
Sustainable Agriculture (YISA) is an Agro-knowledge based Organization of young graduates of Agricultural discipline and
other Youths interested in Agriculture, located in Nigeria, and this organization empower the Nigerian youths to promote agriculture. The youths want
white-collar jobs, thereby neglecting agriculture which is the basic thing.

They believe that this aspect is only for the adults. More development drive on youth empowerment in agricultural
practice will develop nations. With
agricultural youth empowerment, the economy of any nation can grow like plants at river side. There are many countries that have agriculture as one of
the major drivers of their economy and encouraging the youths in such area will
help in boosting the economy the more.

Skills Acquisition Youth Empowerment:
This division is geared towards training of the youths on skills development. The skills they acquire support them in
earning living, and in solving other problems. Examples of the skills that can be learned through this are card designing, plumbing, welding, mechanics, writing skill and so on.
National Industrial Skills Development Program of Nigeria launched recently is expected to train and develop a highly
skilled workforce for small and medium scale enterprises across Nigeria. There are importance of skill acquisition.
Governments of many nations perform well in this category as they have sponsored many skill acquisition programmes. Many group of youths visit
National Metallurgical Training, Onitsha in Nigeria, for training and most of these training are sponsored by the Nigerian
government. In the same way, there are many youth empowerment programmes
on skill acquisition going on in United States of America.

Conclusion

Types of youth empowerment were discussed in this piece, and some organizations that support the empowerment were also given as examples.

The types of youth empowerment detailed out in this write-up were financial, educational, skill, moral and agricultural youth empowerment. I want use this
medium to address countries that are still lagging behind in Educational youth empowerment. These nations should do
anything possible to embrace
empowerment in education as that is one of the major means of meeting the demand of the present society. When youths are
empowered educationally, there is brighter future for the nations.
