Volksfuhrer:

Where's the evidence that Tinubu's involved in this campaign against Saraki. Granted that Tinubu is still angry at Saraki's emergence as senate president, is Tinubu the only one aggrieved? Anyone of Saraki's adversaries could have been behind this. Must you blame every attack on Saraki as Tinubu's doing?
Thanks for your submission here. You are one of the intelligent peeps on this forum, take that from me.
Many people here simply hate Tinubu for leading the common sense revolution against the immediate past government.
What they don't know is that they are making Tinubu more popular by their senseless personal attacks.

Section 66 (1) of the Nigerian constituion provides thus..

No person shall be qualified for election to the Senate or the House of Representatives if:
(a) subject to the provisions of section 28 of this Constitution, he has voluntarily acquired the citizenship of a country other than Nigeria or, except in such cases as may be prescribed by the National Assembly, has made a declaration of allegiance to such a country;

You lazy and ill-educated kids need to have your heads examined and actually ask for a refund from your educational institutions.

Your entire submission depends on the provisions of section 28 of the constitution which you are too lazy to read. Instead of reading, you and your fellow Jagaban blind worshipers are running around in celebration.

The section you of the constitution you are quoting does not apply to people who are Nigerians by birth unless they voluntarily renounced their Nigerian citizenships.

(1) Saraki has not renounced his Nigerian citizenship

(2) Saraki is a Nigerian citizen by birth, because according to section 28, every person born outside Nigeria either of whose parents is a citizen of Nigeria, is a Nigerian citizen by birth.

You people should give this issue a rest.

This should serve as deterrence to people whose betrayal is their watchword! Betraying other people's trust can be worse than murder.

A citizen of another country cannot preside over the Nigerian senate. It will never be allowed to stand anywhere, not even lesotho.. Bukola's saraki's election will be nullified. Ain't nothing the brainless Tandroids can do about
it!
Pls stop talking as if this is Lagos politics, this is Nigeria politics and a lot of things are involve. It may sound absurd,Tinubu cannot remove Saraki.

My friend why are u dis stupid?

Saraki will sail tru this bcoz Section 66. (1) (a) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended) says:

66. (1) No person shall be qualified for election to the Senate or the House of Representatives if:

(a) subject to the provisions of section 28 of this
Constitution, he has voluntarily acquired the
citizenship of a country other than Nigeria or, except in such cases as may be prescribed by the National Assembly, has made a declaration of allegiance to such a country;"

Section 28 Reads...

28. (1) Subject to the other provisions of this section, a person shall forfeit forthwith his Nigerian
citizenship if, not being a citizen of Nigeria by birth,
he acquires or retains the citizenship or nationality of a country, other than Nigeria, of which he is not a
citizen by birth.

(2) Any registration of a person as a citizen of Nigeria or the grant of a certificate of naturalisation to a person who is a citizen of a country other than
Nigeria at the time of such registration or grant shall, if he is not a citizen by birth of that other country, be conditional upon effective renunciation of the citizenship or nationality of that other country within a period of not more than five months from the date of such registration or grant.

25. (1) had these to say On the citizenship of Nigeria:

(a) every person born in Nigeria before the date of
independence, either of whose parents or any of
whose grandparents belongs or belonged to a
community indigenous to Nigeria; Provided that a
person shall not become a citizen of Nigeria by virtue of this section if neither of his parents nor any of his grandparents was born in Nigeria.

(b) every person born in Nigeria after the date of
independence either of whose parents or any of
whose grandparents is a citizen of Nigeria; and

(c) every person born outside Nigeria either of whose parents is a citizen of Nigeria.

My investigation reveals Saraki was born in the UK to a Nigerian parent. He did not acquire the citizenship of voluntarily, he got it by birth.

Constitutionally, Nothing could make Saraki denounce UK. He can contest in UK and also in Nigeria.

Let's go back in the case of Ajimobi vs Akala in 2011,
the petitioner (Akala) claimed the respondent
(Ajimobi ) acquired American Citizenship voluntarily
but failed to renounce it. Ajimobi successfully
defended himself in court and He won.

Sections 66 and 28 have been nullified by
CITIZENSHIP BY BIRTH while Section 25 has been rendered invalid by his (Saraki) been born in UK to a Nigerian parent.

So APC should try harder, they have failed this one!
