As received 5 churches that don't celebrate Christmas and why Jevohah’s Witness This religious organisation is one of the biggest group of Christmas-shunners. Once upon a time, Jehovah’s Witnesses used to observe Christmas. This was until 1928, after further study by one official. The official found that this is based on“false religious beliefs or activities.” Deseret News reports that this is explained in a 1993 book, “Jehovah’s Witnesses — Proclaimers of God’s Kingdom.” Seventh Day Adventist Church Like Jehovah’s Witnesses, this church is also against Christmas. A publication from them reads: “We do not celebrate Christmas as the Birth of Christ per say since Christ was not born in Dec. “He did not want us to celebrate His birth or He would have told us when He was born. It has become a money-making celebration with Christ mixed in. It is a pagan ritual. Deeper Life A few years ago, Pastor W.F. Kumuyi, the head of the Church announced to the world that his church does not celebrate the popular holiday. Explaining at the 2013 December retreat, he said: “We don’t celebrate Christmas nor sing Christmas carol; because Christmas is of idolatrous background.” God’s Kingdom Society (GKS) GKS believe that there is no single evidence in the Bible that Jesus Christ was born on the 25th of December. Rather, they believe that He was born in October and that Christmas originated from “a noisy pagan festival in honour of the god of the sun”. The church was started by St. Gideon Meriodere Urhobo in 1934 after leaving Jehovah’s Witnesses with headquarters found in Warri. Religious Society of Friends aka Quakers. This church believes that “every day is a holy day,” so there is no need to single out just one day to celebrate. Mountain of Fire Ministries (MFM) According to the founder, Pastor D.K. Olukoya, “We don’t celebrate Christmas because the root is demonic.” 1 Like |

vooks: sorry that's a wrong assertion/perception. Am an Adventist and we don't worship any Female Pope of which Ellen G white is not. we worship God in heaven and not any human being, neither does any one man own the church in the name of General Overseer (GO) or anything of such nature. The church is an International church cutting across the entire nation and tongues of the world, with its headquarters in the United States of America. Get your facts right before you allege or assume. at least start by googling Ellen G white's name or the name of the church, it will redirect you to the church website where you can read everything you wish to know about the church as well as the Doctrines and fundamental believes of the church. Thanks. 11 Likes 2 Shares |

Reader1988: Good and thanks for your Frank testimony about the church. As for the lengthy service, I believe it has to do with the church branch where you worshiped and the pastor or Elder that ministered that Sabbath. But in some other branches of the church, they close on or before 12pm, latest 12:30. you can find out yourself. and you can also write to the first elder of the church branch where you worship or at least meet him in person to discuss their lateness in service, and trust me next Sabbath they will make amends. Seventh Day Adventist Church, is a church where everyone can make an input and contribution as long as its for the progress of the church, and it's not ungodly. you could even be called to preach one Sabbath. so just talk to the first elder or any of the church officers in your branch and they will make amends. Lilimax: Ain't they the same people who make use of Mormon Bible by an Adams Smith? or am I mixing things up? I already made contact with them to attend their meetings. If I'm not mistaken, they have strong similarities with Jehovah's witnesses. I need to visit them and this amorc and Eck people. I want to associate with them all. If there's an Hindu temple in Nigeria, I would go there too. Already visited a friend who's an Oluwò of Yoruba traditional beliefs, but he never allowed me enter or see his stronghold. 1 Like 1 Share |

I am an Adventist. we believe in the Seventh day Sabbath ( one of our 28 fundamental believes as stated by the Bible). The Sabbath was changed from Saturday to Sunday by the Pope during the time of Emperor Constantine. We are presently in roughly all the countries of the world and Adventism started during the time of William Miller 1860. Yes the church is the owner of Babcock University but this is one of the so many avenue of reaching out. We have no general overseer i.e the church belongs to its members. The president's i.e head pastors(president's) from Lagos conference to West African division, up to the general conference are selected by the members which are represented as delegates nominated by the various local church. their tenure is usually five years each and another pastor comes onboard. The Adventist church has a relief organisation Adventist Development Relief Agency ADRA. which has been effective in providing reliefs to earthquake victims in Haiti and other areas devastated by natural disasters. The Loma Linda university- an Adventist institution was in Vietnam to provide relief during the U S Invasion. 9 Likes 1 Share |

The Sabbath is God’s gift to us, a time for rest and restoration of our connection to God and others. It reminds us of God’s creation and Jesus’ grace. The gracious Creator, after the six days of Creation, rested on the seventh day and instituted the Sabbath for all people as a memorial of Creation. The fourth commandment of God’s unchangeable law requires the observance of this seventh-day Sabbath as the day of rest, worship, and ministry in harmony with the teaching and practice of Jesus, the Lord of the Sabbath. The Sabbath is a day of delightful communion with God and one another. It is a symbol of our redemption in Christ, a sign of our sanctification, a token of our allegiance, and a foretaste of our eternal future in God’s kingdom. The Sabbath is God’s perpetual sign of His eternal covenant between Him and His people. Joyful observance of this holy time from evening to evening, sunset to sunset, is a celebration of God’s creative and redemptive acts. (Gen. 2:1-3; Exod. 20:8-11; 31:13-17; Lev. 23:32; Deut. 5:12-15; Isa. 56:5, 6; 58:13, 14; Ezek. 20:12, 20; Matt. 12:1-12; Mark 1:32; Luke 4:16; Heb. 4:1-11.) 5 Likes |

They preach more about the end time that when I was serving in one of the creeks in Bayelsa I became scared that the world might end before I finish serving and there is no access to road except riding over 1:30mins in a speed boat. So later, I stopped attending their programs to regain my sanity. But they truly have lots of good teachings and practices to emulate. 3 Likes |

I went to an Adventist university for 5years, though am not a 7th day adventist I still think it's a really cool church and like every other church that av black sheeps they got theirs. They worship on Saturdays, not all of them are vegetarians and they don't eat unclean meat, they rarely use drums and dey sing more of hymnals, they believe in the Trinity, they believe in Jesus Christ as our Lord and saviour, they are like regular Christians but they worship on Saturdays. The most important thing about them is they don't do any work on Friday sunset to Saturday sunset. 3 Likes 1 Share |
